Today's battle is with Morimoto. The episode's main ingredient is Bamboo Shoots. More to come tomorrow.

So, I finally watched a battle on FLN. The different music wierded me out a little, but I discovered I enjoyed watching the battle and had forgotten who won. I wish it was on a little earlier in the evening; with my schedule it's on a bit late for everyday viewing.

Is it me, or do the FLN airings have more commercial breaks?
BTW, I don't remember ever seeing the Kobe eggplant battle from Friday, so that was nice.

I didn't notice a difference in the commercial breaks, but then again, I've only watched a couple of FLN eps and really wasn't paying attention to that aspect of the airing.

Well, a show that aired a few years ago would have less allotted commercial time than a current series (the more years go by, the more commercials they stuff into television broadcasts- you'd think it would be the opposite scenario). So, it's entirely possible that there are more commercial breaks. Or, there could be snippets edited out of episodes to accomodate the extra commercials squeezed into the regular number of breaks.

Man, the original show really highlights how much better Kaga-san is as the Chairman than the current ICA robotic edition.

Is the show still on Fine Living Network? Last I checked it was on the Cooking Channel, even further in the depth of syndication...

I read through this thread, and although the Fine Living episodes never really became very useful, it seems, it must've been a fun time for you guys. Makes me kinda kick myself for not having explored the internet more back then for all things Iron Chef! Even though I'd never even heard of Fine Living before I found that episode at ICC, I could've shared in the anticipation, at least.

My cable provider doesn't offer the Cooking channel, so I know how it feels.
