It time to start up the Ohta thread for RPG 16. The secret ingredient is peaches.
Peaches! Savory peaches?
The title to Chen's incomplete menu is :"An Imperial Chinese Banquet for Longevity Immortals".
Chen has dried cherries, almonds, sugared walnuts, lotus seeds, sweet red bean paste, candy ginger, and sugared ginkgo nuts out on the counter.
The diced peaches are going to dry a little in the oven. They also are the hardest peaches.

This is my first time taking on Ohta in addition to my other duties, guys, so bear with me if I'm slow on the updates. I'll do my best!

I am trying to use a range of sweetness in my peaches from somewhat tart to very sweet to show how versatile it can be.
Also, while my style has now been somewhat more French, since the peach is common in a lot of American home cuisine, you can expect a number of my dishes to have an American influence behind them.

Smith is making four dishes.
There is a grill heating up on the countertop.

If it looks like Smith has time to spare, there will be an attempted fifth dish. This is what the peach juice reduction will be for.
As for the cake, the peaches were pushed in slightly before baking and the spices on top should help reduce overdrying. Furthermore, there will be something put on top of the cake that is liquidy and that should help as well.

The white match sticks are daikon, the clear liquid is rice wine vinegar and the white powder is some sugar. The gelatin is not for between courses but for a surprise. The sugar syrup for the duck contained some stronger flavored peaches.

The sauce for the noodles consists of hot water, peanut butter, sesame butter and oil, soy sauce, white pepper and hot chili oil. The longevity buns also contain minced peaches in the dough and also pureed yellow peaches in the filling. There are a total of eleven buns. Two buns for each taster and some for him to try.

The dumplings are soup dumplings and that was what the gelatin was for. The peach paste was made by boiling down some doughnut peach puree. The noodles will be served cold as an appetizer.

Miyamoto is the Shanghai specialist that makes different kinds of confections that resemble the real objects. Should Chen make a peach drink?

Smith is now well ahead of the timeline and is seriously thinking about the fifth dish. On the counter in front of him is flour, sugar, eggs, and cottage cheese.
Also, the cake in question is actually a "cobbler" not a "cake" in the strictest sense.

Whew! I think this RPG holds the record for the most Ohta updates! And I must say, the banter with Ohta makes the Fukui role a lot more fun. Keep the news coming!

The sauce in the pot contains the pureed peaches and some Chinese cooking wine, five spice powder and brown sugar. It will be like a hoisin sauce when finished. It will slowly cook until it reaches that consistency.
The mixture in the distilling pot contains Laojiao, puree of the different peaches and lemon grass.

Guys, I don't imbibe so can someone explain to me just what "Chen" is doing here?
I would really appreciate it since Hattori is supposed to know stuff like that.

Arrianna that is what Chen is trying to do. It was something that was done in ICA with Mario Batali. I just modified it so the liquor wouldn't boil off and also help infuse the liquor with peach essence. Sorry for the curve ball.

Not a problem. I remembered the bit with Mario but it didn't sound the same and since everything I know about alcohol comes from doing these RPs... lol
