Well, other than a day or two a couple of weeks ago, this weekend is the nicest it's been in a long while - high temps above 10C, with some places seeing 15. We're still down near freezing at night, which is OK. We'll probably have one last kick at the cool weather can, right around Easter, then it will warm up for real. Our daylight savings starts next weekend.

OK - just an update on the weather front - yesterday we had a really bad storm go through, we lost part of our back fence, and a large tree in our front yard fell over into our neighbour's yard - it took out the front fence and landed on their car- so have been organising the clean up. We can be thankful though, no one was injured, and the house got spared as well. We only rent the house we're in, so the landlord will have to deal with the damage costs, but seeing as though it's a long weekend, everyone has to wait a bit longer to get things done. We were luckier than some, people lost roofs and had trees go through buildings. The storm itself only lasted 15mins, but the place looked like a tornato went through it!!

Almost sounds like it was a small tornado.....too bad about your neighbour's car. Glad to hear no one was hurt.
When I was a kid, we had a big gale like that in my hometown...nearly hurricane force winds in the dead of winter. Luckily there was no snow with it, or it would have taken a week to dig out from the snow drifts....

There's some more good news on the car - despite the tree landing on it, the car only received a few minor scratches (it wasn't as bad as first thought). Now everyone is in the clean up process - the wood-chipping and gardening/mulching businesses have been having a field day getting rid of all the tree limbs. Our neighbourhood only had tree damage and fence damage - other neighbourhoods have had house damage, with trees crashing into them. It was a miracle that no-one was injured or killed. When people build houses, they plant large trees right up close to their houses, which look good, but aren't so good when a storm comes along. The reports are saying the storm was a 1 in 100 year even in terms of the winds and rains - we had 25mm (7in) of rain in 3 mins - I wouldn't want to go through that again!!

but now that the weather's been nice ever since, you'd hardly notice there was a storm, except of course for all the trees that are missing limbs...and now i'm winning!!

It's so hard to tell...I think I remember MA saying that as soon as one of these threads starts, when it will end is already decided, but I don't know how he makes the determination.
