Just a reminder that season two of "The Next Iron Chef" begins tonight on Food Network! The show has been pretty heavily promoted, so I imagine anticipation is running high. Enjoy the show, and may the best contestant win!

Nice long premiere. I'm looking forward to the Tokyo episode -- was that who I thought it was standing next to Alton in that preview?

Having not seen the preview, I didn't see Doc until last night...he sure does look great! He doesn't seem to have aged a day in the past 10 years.

Hattori-san may have a few more wrinkles, but he looked great. I didn't realize he spoke English, although I knew he was a widely traveled. It's a shame Chairman Kaga, Fukui-san and Ohta weren't there, at least for a cameo appearance.

I like how you think, slowmodem! It would have been wonderful to see the rest of the old gang.

Well....
S P O I L E R
Congratulations to Jose Garces! Between him and Mehta, it will be nice to have another chef who represents a certain cultural or regional style (my one criticism of Cora and Symon). Has anyone eaten at his restaurant? I'd be up for another reason to visit Philly.

This season of TNIC had a different feel to me (and hubby) than the first one...last time around I knew within a couple of shows who the final two would be, but this time we were guessing the whole time. I wasn't even sure who to root for last night, and I really didn't feel one had a clear advantage over the other. Anybody else feel that way, or was it just us?

I must say my belated congrats to the new Iron Chef Jose Garces! His first battle is on January 17, 2010 and he will battle against Seattle chef Rachel Yang www.wikipedia.org

How many Iron Chefs do they want to have??? In my opinion it's getting crowded with five!

Mario Batali is no longer active as an Iron Chef, so it's still five.

Mario will be on the Jan 3rd show, but I think he is going to retire.
