We are eight battles into the new Iron Chef series, and in case you have, or have not been following along at home, this means that we can draw some reasonable statistics into the scoring of the dishes of the nominees and the Iron Chefs. [WARNING! This thread will heavily involve battle spoilers, so if you are wary of them, do not read beyond this point.] The Rules: - Since I can not read kanji, and I doubt any of you do as well, I will refer to each of the individual judges in the scoring table as Judge 1, Judge 2 and so on. - Each Iron Chef will be given an average score table. This will keep track of how well they do with a particular judge number as they progress throughout the series. - Each episode table will be set up in this format: Challenger | Cuisine | Theme type | Judge 1 | Judge 2 | Judge 3 | Judge 4 | Judge 5 | Total | XX | xx | xx | xx | xx | xx | xx | xx | xx | XX | xx | xx | xx | xx | xx | xx | xx | xx |
Let's get started with some data: Year 2012 Iron Chef Japanese Jun KurogiChallenger | Cuisine | Theme type | Judge 1 | Judge 2 | Judge 3 | Judge 4 | Judge 5 | Total | Katsuyasu Ito | French | Seafood | 15 | 18 | 20 | 16 | 17 | 3(86) | | | | 16 | 17 | 19 | 14 | 18 | 2(84) |
Challenger | Cuisine | Theme type | Judge 1 | Judge 2 | Judge 3 | Judge 4 | Judge 5 | Total | Yusuke Kawasaki | French? | Poltury | 17 | 19 | 17 | 18 | 18 | 0(89) | | | | 20 | 20 | 19 | 20 | 20 | 5(99) |
Challenger | Cuisine | Theme type | Judge 1 | Judge 2 | Judge 3 | Judge 4 | Judge 5 | Total | Average | Various | Various | 16 | 18.5 | 18.5 | 17 | 17.5 | (87.5) | | | | 16 | 18.5 | 19 | 17 | 19 | 89.5 |
I'll edit in Yuji Waykia and Yosuke Suga's scoring later and my conclusions. It is 11pm in my part of the world, I'm going to bed, so consider this a work in progress.

Sanji,
Judge 1 in Kurogi's first battle (vs. Ito) is Honorary Iron Chef Michiba. Judge 1 in his second battle is Naoto Takenaka--you might remember him from the Sushi Battle vs. Morimoto from the original series.
ETA: Just noticed that Kurogi scored 1 shy of a perfect score in his second match. Now *that's* how you bounce back from a loss.

Okay, now that we are in a new year, I am in a bit of a pickle.
I have promised that I would keep statistics of the scoring from every Iron Chef battle in this new series, however, with the New Year's Eve special, I have run into two problems that would wreck my whole entire system up.
Firstly is the fact that the battles in the Dream Match Special(as Tuthead affectionately put it) are only 45 minutes of actual cooking time, not a full hour. Normally, that wouldn't be such a problem as I am building a "Classic Iron Chef" scoring database that would reflect special battle conditions such as a Noodle Rule battle, or the 75 minute angler fish battle, in other words, battle conditions that doesn't necessarily affect the outcome of the battle.
The second reason is the fact that there were seven members on the tasting panel instead of the usual five. While that might not be an every day occurrence, it will throw out my averages and my conclusions if, and that is a big if, they only make it a one time deal.
I am more inclined to throw these battles out of the database. Agreed?

Personally, I'd be inclined to leave them in if you could somehow make a special notation about the size of the tasting panel. But ultimately, it's your call since it's your database.
