FujiTV does indeed broadcast the new show in HD, i don't know if they use 720p, 1080p or some other resolution, but definitely HD. Would be good to have some nice quality rips of the episodes like that. Some of the 2012 episodes that we have, quality is a little rough (the New Years eve special is particularly pixelated when theres any motion on the screen). It's great the source for these 1993 episodes are an upscaled 720p broadcast. Those specials you mentioned, were they originally broadcast split into 1 hour blocks or 2 or 3 hours straight? The timeslot that the reruns get on FujiTV ONE is always 1 hour (right now since they are showing the older 30 minute episodes it is 2 episodes per timeslot) . If those were 1 hour broadcasts I wouldnt be surprised if FujiTV ONE would re-air those specials too. If they were 2 hours or more though, I would guess they would just skip over them and move onto the next regular 1 hour episode. Who knows though? Really wish I had a contact that could source these episodes for us. These re-runs are probably Iron Chef fans only hope of ever having anything like a nice quality DVD release.. Hopefully they keep it up. Last I checked, FujiTV ONE is scheduled to be airing all of the episodes through 18. They do update their schedule often. Craig, I assumed Fuji TV was broadcasting these in 720p, but I have no evidence one way or another. The 1994 Mr. Iron Chef special was split into two long broadcasts (2+ hours, I believe) and the HK special was one long broadcast. If I can locate my old printouts from no longer extant websites, I will provide a more accurate answer. Way back in 2001 and maybe 2002, Fuji 721/739 (the predecessors to ONE) aired a limited number of rebroadcasts of 1995 episodes in the full unedited 85 minute format. This was the source of the Flounder battle. Also, in those years, in the days following January 1st, all of the major specials were also rebroadcast, so at least there is the precedent for airing them again, but probably not, as you noted, as part of the regular rebroadcast run right now.

Yeah, I'd bet FujiTV ONE will not deviate from the 1 hour timeslot. I'd like to be wrong about that though! Either way, even if they do skip the specials, hopefully we will continue to have a source for these, for the missing episodes, and to replace the low quality VHS rips. It's great they are giving Iron Chef a shot at new episodes and a shot at rebroadcasting all of the old shows.

Harvestless these two days. No response from Japanese fans about sharing videos or contents yet. Potential may be low because penetration rate of the channel to access FujiTV ONE is low. Sorry about that but I'll try to keep calling. Miwa

One other interesting note from this battle: the chefs weren't present at the tasting. I noticed there was an "A" and "B" on each panelist's table. Was it a blind taste test? Did they know whose food they were tasting? Fukui-san said, "please taste Tetsujin Ishinabe's dishes first." and after that he said, "Next, please taste challenger's dishes" So, Fukui-san introduced who's dishes those were before tasting. It's interesting. They served IronChef's dishes first. And chef didn't make any presentation or explanation for their dishes! Fukui-san will retire from Fuji TV as of end of this year!!

I did talk my friend in Japan again about recording the new episodes BDR, She did say she plans to record the show this week. So hopefuhopefully we will be able to get 720 or 1080 soon. Of course she doesn't have the ability to transfer them on the internet, so ill have to wait until she gets a few discs or so full and sends them by mail so hopefully we will still be able to get the new episodes as fast as we have been, but in SD

The guy who runs that page (Kosugi-san) is the source of some of my non-subtitled OA episodes on the site. (I bought some DVDs from him a few years back.) Maybe someone on that site will start trying to record the other FujiTV One rebroadcasts. As always, keep up the great work.

Hi Tut, Kosugi-san's page...? Sorry, I haven't seen that site. Your source is really great, isn't it? I searched a lot but found nothing so far. ummm. I'm actually afraid...even if I found, I could hardly imagine that he/she would give the videos away to contribute to the site he/she doesn't know. It is great if someone on the Kosugi-san's site will start to record the other FujiTV One's rebroadcasts.

Nice blog, Okonomiyagi. So..., I found two people watching original Ryori no Tetsujin on FujiTV ONE in some sites, but no reply to my calling. They seem on guard. Sorry.

Sorry, I didn't understand it but I just now noticed that the Ryouri no Tetsujin message board where I put the message = teacup BBS board = Kosugi-san's board. But anyway, no good news as of right now. I called in some other sites as well but no good news. Also I found Craig's message in FC2 video site and I put additional comment there, but seems no reaction. Hope the anonymous uploader would keep uploading there as far as FujiTV ONE would air the rebroadcasts of the original series....

Unfortunately it doesn't appear that we will need to worry about getting these FujiTV ONE Rebroadcasts for much longer. I have the schedule through 4/10 , there are no broadcasts scheduled starting in April : bangumi.skyperfectv.co.jp/e2/channel:3307/program:料理の鉄人/ Very disappointing. I guess we could complain to FujiTV One, but i doubt it would do much good.... www.fujitv.co.jp/otn/index.html They do have a program request form. On the left of that page with the blue and purple speech bubbles

So, the last episode we can see seems #22 Michiba's legendary cheese battle, right? We need at the very least one more episode; #23 rice battle to fill in the ICC.(>_<) It doesn't mean because April schedule is still a long way off but means really no episode? OK, I will put something in their request form.
Probably I think, too, it doesn't make a difference but I think sending our opinion is important. In the new ICJ, some of our opinion realized; dessert battle & vegetable battle realized in the episode and featuring the sous chef realized in their FB page. And I proposed quiz battle of IC fans vs. IC staffs, in another Fuji's program "Hoko x Tate", and it realized, albeit in a different fashion. (They'e doing quiz series about IC in the FB now.)

Battle #23 is the 90-minute Rice Confront between Michiba-san and Goto Ichio-san, former chef for the Emperor of Japan. There is an edited version of this on one of the Pony Canyon VHS tapes.

Very interesting. So was the episode actually 90 min? Or just the battle, and it was edited down to the 30 or 1 hour time slot? I had a couple of the Pony Canyon tapes that I copied to DVD. One for Sakai (its on IronChefFans.info for sure) and one of Chin (hadn't thought of it, not sure if its on IronChefFans.info, if its not i'll send it over to keith when i get back to Ohio, i'm temporarily in another state at the moment). Pretty sure neither of the Pony Canyon tapes I saw had any battles that hadnt aired on Food Network. Need to get my hands on that Michiba tape!
