Ota - Coocoo-san, it's pretty hard to keep up with the challenger chef. So many ingredients. I can't get any information out of him right now so I'll try the Iron Chef. Ishinabe-san, you are really tight-lipped today. Tell us how thing are going with your dish preparations. How many, what will they be, do you think you can win this battle?

Hattori: He is in a hurry to get all of his ingredients ready. I noticed on his menu that he has a few time consuming dishes, and he is getting those out of the way first before he starts on quick dishes like the ice cream. He is managing the clock quite well, I must say for the dishes that he hopes to serve to the panel today.

Ishida: Ohhh... Black beans and cider. That is the dish he was stirring the black beans in wasn't it? Which dish do you think that's for?

Ishinabe: I am shooting for five to six dishes today, if everything goes smoothly- as it is going now.
Ishinabe: OK, good work guys. Leave the gnocchi right there, we'll boil them later. I need some lamb, and curry. I also need some pasta dough, for the ravioli. We're going to fry this ravioli.
*Ishinabe filling pasta dough with ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, spinach, parsley, nutmeg, curry, and baby shrimp*
Ishinabe: OK, I need allot of spices for that lamb, guys. The curry sauce will be plated with the ravioli, and on top will go the micro greens with the pumpkin dressing.

Fukui: Doc, I have to ask: why is Ishinabe-san making ravioli? He's Iron Chef French, isn't he?

Okada: Wow. The ravioli filling smells great up here. It seems like all this food is going to be heavy. The cider with black beans will be interesting. The cider will bring a nice sweetness to balance out the sharpness of the black beans.

Fukui: Doc, I have to ask: why is Ishinabe-san making ravioli? He's Iron Chef French, isn't he? He is, but his dishes seem to come from the Italian side today.

Ota - Kuku-san, I'm back with the Iron Chef right now. Ishinabe-san, your dishes tend to the Italian flavor rather than the creamy sauces used by French chefs. Is there a spicific idea you have in mind for your dishes in this battles, or do the French chefs use pasta?

Ishida: Ota! Ask him what he's going to do with the lamb while he's at it?
(to Doc Hattori) What kind of dishes do the French make with lamb anyway? Isn't that more of a, oh, Greece or something like that? I don't think I have ever eaten lamb before.

Ota - Another question, Ishinabe-san. Why did you choose lamb for your dishes today? Is lamb used much in French cuisine? You seem to be totally out of character in this battle. Questions are flying all over the place, even from visiting French Chef Hiroyuki Sakai. He seems to be watching you closely as well.

Fukui: We're giving Ohta a real work-out, today, eh Ishida-san? *laughs* Hey Ohta, after you're done with the Iron Chef, let's get some words from both attendees in the Royal Box!

----post---- Okay, I'm back! ----endpost----
*The casserole has now gone into the oven, and Barber is now cracking eggs over a slotted spoon held over a steel bowl. He shakes the spoon a little, draining off the egg white, and drops the yolk into a glass bowl which contains some egg yolk already separated. Keiichi rushes up with an open plastic food canister. Barber takes a good whiff of it.*
Barber: "Excellent. Put half a cup of that in the whizzer, and we'll need a full cup of the pumpkin cubes. Oh, and get some cream as well."
*He begins to whisk away at the egg yolks as Isao comes up with a steamer tray loaded with cubes of pumpkin, butternut and acorn squash, and slices of zucchini and Janaese eggplant.*
Barber: *looks at the tray* "Excellent, get that onto the steamer and set the timer for 20 minutes. We want them softened but not actually mushy."

*Barber now moves to the food processor, whose contents are now orange-y. The processor shuts down, and Keiichi carefully pulses the mixture as Barber carefully adds the egg yolks, and then the cream.*
