*Close-up of Barber checking out the oven where the pumpkin seeds and the spaghetti squash are baking. He gives the camera an "OK" sign with his thumb and forefinger.*
Barber: "This is looking good. The pumpkin seeds ought to be about ready when we hit the 40-minute mark. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go check and see what we got by way of serveware."

Ota - Phooey-san. I assume you would like some words from renown actor Okada Masumi, and Masterchef Sakai. I shall scurry right up to the Royal Box and get some words from them. First I'm here with Masumi-san. Welcome to kitchen stadium, Masumi-san. What brings you here today? Masumi-san - well, I've watched the show on tv and have enjoyed it much. I'm also here researching for a movie I'm making called "Iron in the Chef" I'd like to interview the staff of kitchen stadium today for that role, and perhaps recruit some of the staff for bit parts in the movie. Perhaps even find a role for Chairman Kaga. Ota - Wow. That's really awesome. Good luck in your new movie, and at getting some staff in it as well. What sort of movies have you made in the past? Masumi-san - Well, I'm a very big, famous Japanese actor. I'm a super start, you know. Everybody knows my name. Ota - (except me) says to self. Thanks for the interview, Masumi-san. (Ota moves on the Chef Sakai) Hello again, chef Sakai. Are you enjoying the battle so far? Sakai-san - Yes, I surely am enjoying it. But I'm so wondering why Ishinabe is making dishes with an Italian flavor, rather than French. Oh well, they do sound delicious, and look very good. Ota - Chef Sakai, tell us about your restaurant. I've been there once, and the food was wonderful. Sakai-san - Thank you Ota. I'm always pleased that my food makes people happy. It is my goal in life. As you know, LaRochelle is all French cuisine. The restaurant is on the 32d floor of the building so the views looking out over the city, the ocean, and even the countryside are spectacular from there. You must come again, and be my guest. Ota - WOW! Thank you for that invitation, Sakai-san. You can bet that I will take you up on it. Now back to you, Kuiee-san.

Ota - Kuu-san, Have you noticed the plastic container that Chef Barber is using? I asked him about it and he told me it is left-over pie filling from Ishinabe's last battle. It contains apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc., that Chef Barber feels is good enough to use in todays battle. He doesn't like to let anything go to waste when it is still good. Chef Barber is certainly a thrifty guy. I bet he saves Chmn. Kaga and kitchen stadium a whole bunch of money today.

*Barber returns from the communal serveware pantry with five martini glasses, which he places on the presentation counter. He moves to check on the pumpkin custard mixture which Keiichi has just finished working on, takes a teaspoon and tastes it, nods and picks up the bowl.*
Barber: "I've never actually used one of these things, so let's keep our fingers crossed."
*He pours the mixture into the ice-cream machine and Keiichi turns it on to function.*

Ota (standing by Chef Barber). It's easy to use Barber-san, and works quickly, too. Your mixture looks and smells great. Yumm

Fukui: Ohta, did you say that Chef Barber is using pie filling that Ishinabe made in a previous battle?! That's incredible! Talk about fighting fire with fire- ridiculous! How bold! The Iron Chef might have brought about his own destruction.

Barber: "Well, we'll have to see, Ota-san. Isao! Grab eight of those ziploc bags!"
*Isao counts out eight ziploc bags as Barber hurries to the pantry and grabs eight identical-sized spice jars. He moves back to the counter beside Isao.*
Barber: "All right, we have some time. We need to empty out the spice jars into these bags." (*hands Isao his pocket marker*) "You'll have to keep the bags labelled so that we know which spice is which."
*They begin emptying out the spice jars into the bags.*

Fukui: We're giving Ohta a real work-out, today, eh Ishida-san? *laughs* Hey Ohta, after you're done with the Iron Chef, let's get some words from both attendees in the Royal Box! Ishida: *giggles* (watching the icecream maker) Do you suppose that's the Hallowed Ice? I wonder what it will taste like? Chef Barber seems to be using alot of sweets today. I love sweets but what is up with the sacks of herbs?

The Iron Chef might have brought about his own destruction. Fu-san, Chef Barber is using leftover apple pie filling, which was made by IC Ishinabe the last time (Ishinabe-san) was in kitchen stadium, yes. Yes, this is a tremendouly brave undertaking by Chef Barber. I'm wondering what the Iron Chef is thinking about that. Ishinabe-san has not spoken to me even once since this battle began, but I will get over to him now and see if he will.

25 MINUTES HAVE ELAPSED!
Fukui: Ohta is sure getting the "cold shoulder" from the Iron Chef. I wonder why he is so uptight today. And speaking of "tight" the clock is only five minutes away from the thirty minute mark, and this battle is almost half ova! Doc, what dishes have you seen come together so far in the battle?

*Barber and Keiichi have finished scrubbing and drying the spice jars. These are split into 4 groups of 2. As Keiichi fills each jar three-quarters full with olive oil, Barber takes one group and adds an herbal sprig to each: one has cilantro, the other has lemongrass.*

Post ------------------------ Oops, I forgot to call the 25 minute mark! This battle I was purposefully calling every five minutes, and I skipped one. I'm editing my post above to fix the error, as well as any mention of the call. ------------------------ End

Ota - Cuie-san, I'm here with the Iron Chef. Let's see if I can get anything out of him. Dearest Iron Chef Ishinabe. You've been so quite today and you're not giving out any information on what your plans were for the pumpkin battle. Please, will you tell me something, anything.........I'll give you money (laughs). What are your thoughts about Chef Barber using your leftover apple pie filling from your last battle. Do you think you will win this battle? Why are you being so secretive today?
