Long time, Okonomiyagi. Yes, It was sad. We liked her so much. She was a pioneer of food journalist in Japan. She respected all chefs and food culture. And also it was her who nominated Chen and Michiba to be Iron Chefs. I really pray for her. RIP.

Sad that Kishi-san has passed on; as you noted, she had huge influence on the culinary world. If memory serves, her father introduced the Japanese (Miyagi) Oyster to the USA market with commercial oyster harvesting bed farming, and was considered the father of modern day oyster cultivation in Japan. She will be sorely missed, and especially by we RnT fans, as she advised on the creation of the series and provided many wonderful moments as a judge. Hope you're doing well across the big pond.

Long time, Tets. Good to see you again. Wow, I didn't know her father's great job, thank you. Her elegantly delivered signature phrase “oishugozaimasu” (this is delicious) is still very popular in Japanese gourmet TV shows even among young people who watched Iron Chef show in their young days. I am surprised at not only her father's great job but also that her mother was a descendant from royal family of ancient Ryukyu (now called, Okinawa: south islands of Japan) Dynasty. Indeed. She was elegant, inteligent and big-hearted. I now understand why she wrote some books about Okinawa cuisine. Great people from this great show, Iron Chef are getting gone one by one... so sad. Naomi Kawashima who appeared several times in this show, both of original and 2012 version has passed on, too, on 9/24, whose husband is Toshi Yoroizuka; he appeared in Strawberry–Dessert Battle in ICJ 2012 series... Toshi was cried a lot. Anyway I am greatful that we, gourmet fans and IC fans are standing on the joy of their achievement.
