IMHO, cod is the best fish for fish 'n chips. I also thoroughly enjoyed the cod au gratin I had once. When we lived in the province of Newfoundland, cod was the staple fish.

I like Cod, but I prefer Hallibut for Fish and Chips meself.
Did Chen-san win the battle? I haven't seen this one yet.

K-Chan - I thought like you did about halibut, until I lived in Newfoundland for almost 6 years. I'd never really had much cod until then, and I was very impressed......

^ I would, but with hubby's fish/seafood allergies, I can only have it when I'm at a restaurant.

I feel sorry for people who have food allergies. They really have to be careful, even getting near those foods, right?

I feel sorry for people who have food allergies. They really have to be careful, even getting near those foods, right? Like most things, different people have different levels and types of reaction to their allergens - it depends on what the allergen is and how strong an allergy. In hubby's case, sometimes even the smell of the fish will affect him (raw or cooked). If we're at a restaurant and I decide I want fish or seafood, I have to make sure I'm sitting across from him (beside is too close).

I used to get a tiny rash every time I ate seafood. I hated that. But I don't get that anymore...and I'm thankful.

I used to get a rash from things when younger, too. Guess we grow out of some things.
