Hiya, just a simple Las Vegas restaurant worker here.
I've been an IC fan since 1999, and I also enjoy ICA, though nothing can compare to the original.
I've been to Sakai's restaurant in Shibuya and Morimoto's in Philly, as well as Flay's local Mesa Grill and Batali's Babbo. I have yet to actually meet any of the IC's, but I've met three challengers — Kerry Simon and the Two Hot Tamales. Plus William Shatner, for what that's worth. I also saw Jeffrey Steingarten in my restaurant last week.
Now I'm planning, hopefully next year, for another trip to Japan and to hit all the ICs' restaurants.

Hi reaperg and welcome to the kitchen stadium boards. Please, if you could, share with us what it was like to go to IC Sakai's restaurant. I guess you did not get to meet him, but sure would like to know how it felt to be in his restaurant. You are so fortunate.

Ahha! Someone closer then herringchoker! ;D Huh? Do you mean closer as in geographically nearer? If so, you've forgotten that I haven't lived in Phoenix since last November......

Arrianna, I'm in Reno, which is at least 8 hours from you. I assume you are close to Las Vegas?

Ah ha! I knew there was someone! I'm about 2 hours north of Vegas on I-15.
Sooooo... Someone closer then mickster! lol
(ohhh, I think this is the first time I've been on a board with someone in driving distance. No wait... there was 1... person, once.)

Arrianna, how far from Highway 50 do you live? I wonder if we have any members on this site who live between Reno and San Francisco on I- 80?

Highway 50 intersects with I-15 at Holden 168 miles north of here. Heading to Reno that way would take a little over 15 hours.
Evidently the most direct rount to Reno would be to head toward Vegas and then turn off at exit 91 and catch the NV-168 north. Total time would be about 13 hours 22 mins.
hmmmm.... I have a friend from Reno I haven't seen in 10 years. Maybe I should write her.

It takes about 8 hours to drive from my house in Reno to my friends house in Las Vegas on 95. There are several small towns that are speed traps, otherwise it wouldn't take as long.

Interesting. Google maps says it should take 11 1/2 hours. How fast do you go?
