What is this world coming to....... Thoughts and prayers with the families of those killed, and the students who survived and will have to live with the sights and sounds of today for the rest of their lives.

Looks like he was on antidepressants. It seems to be a common thread these days.
I agree, our prayers need to be with the families and the survivors.

Indeed. What a tragic and unnecessary event. My prayers are with the families of both the deceased and of the survivors.

Looks like he was on antidepressants. I wish they would stop prescribing those to people who already have violent tendencies.

Me too. He was also a very secluded and violent person to begin with. On the news, the anchors said that the killer wrote gruesome and overly violent stories and plays for his classes, and that fellow students actually joked about him doing something like this one day. How terrible.

I am so saddened by this. I've watched hours of coverage on it, and still can't grasp what happened. Just terrible.

Did you hear about that professor who died while guarding the door so his students could get away? Sure made me cry.
What i want to know is how someone who is clearly nutso was able to get a gun?
I hope the families of the victims are all doing well. It must be hard for the other students there, too, especially the ones who saw it happen. I can't even imagine.

What i want to know is how someone who is clearly nutso was able to get a gun? Because states aren't required by law to report it when the courts declare someone a danger to themselves and others to the FBI and that's the database that is checked. Legally he should have never been able to get one. That is why the NRA among others support legislation that will enforce reporting of court rulings. It's old legislation that has never made it through before because someone always tries to add in stuff that is against the right to bear arms and it gets voted down. Maybe this time it will get through.

Also, there were two male students that held a door shut with their legs and feet so the murderer could not get inside. I think one of them was shot in the foot. As terrible as these types of events are, the stories of heroism like these really show the country that there are some true heroes out there.

Yes, they are all very impressive. The professor especially. I am sure he knew exactly what he was doing considering what he lived through when he was younger.

After surviving the Holocaust, that prof deserved to die peacefully in his bed at a ripe old age, not the way he did......
I saw an interview with one of the two students who barred the classroom door. I believe he got shot in the arm or leg when the gunman entered the classroom (there not being much to hide behind in a typical college classroom), then once the gunman left he and his classmate did what they could to hold the doors closed in case the gunman decided to come back.
