I haven't been following this in the news. As I understand the history of the various conflicts in Africa, part of the cause in these cases is that the Europeans, when they drew up national boundaries, did not take into consideration the natural territories of the various indigenous tribes, so long-time enemies often found themselves sharing a country.

I don't mean to undermine the human aspect of the war, but you really have to feel bad for the gorillas, as well as the scientists who simply wish to study these animals while they can. It would be a shame for such a rare and magnificent species to go extinct because of a human war.
