Mickey pointed out that she didn't like how the secret ingredient is shown in the commercials of ICA. I said that I did not remember ICJ ever doing that...

I don't remember ICJ ever doing that, am I right? Well, we don't know what they did in Japan when IC was on the air...... FN generally didn't give away the ICJ ingredient in promos, that I can recall. P.S. Thanks, AC, for reminding people about spoiler warnings..... ;D

No promos for ICJ revealed secret ingredients, but remember the promos are different for the two shows. My guess is Food Network is trying to entice viewers with the ingredient to get them to think about what dishes the chefs could prepare. Different show, different approach.
BTW-I've met Morimoto-san on two occasions and his conversational English is just fine. I suspect having to describe his dishes in detail might be the reason he's dubbed.

I guess I am in the minority here. I don't mind knowing what the "secret" ingredient is ahead of time. In many cases, I make a point of watching the show because of knowing the ingredient. I have limited time in the evening and need to make adjustments to watch anything after seven p.m.
Knowing the ingredient has never quashed my enjoyment of watching the show. What I really like is when they are given variations of the ingredient. If the ingredient is cheese, they get a large variety to use. They are not limited to just one type.

Wonder why the lobster stroking was not on the ICA show. Yeah, I have no clue why it wasn't in the show. As MA said, that was false advertising.

Part of me thinks it was a bit unfair for Morimoto to have a 2-1 sous chef advantage. But still, he was overdue for a win.
