Ever wonder why fn has the ICA go first in some shows? I think the challenger should go first, after all, the (challengers) are challenging the ICA's. Sometimes (many times) I think FN has no brains, LOL. Today was battle lamb. I have tried to make a decent tasting lamb dish but, alas, have not been able to cook anything I like,so, no more lamb for me. I need an IC to cook it. I wonder if the beautiful, devine one cooks lamb............

Basically, the FN randomly chooses who goes first and who goes second, to make it more fair. To me, it seemed the ICJ had a very large advantage by always going second.
I heard that the challenger and iron chef decide on it over a coin flip before the battle. So they know the order that they will be presenting before the actual battle begins.

Interesting. I always wondered about that. I, too, think that the ICJs had an advantage by always going second. I like the random approach, but I also like the old approach as well.

I like ICA's format better. I don't think the chef, or the challenger, should have a definite place in the tasting order.

Let me guess Flay won the battle. I miss it, I was at a party.

You wild party gal, misstee.......lol. I guess it really doesn't matter which chef goes first, am just used to seeing the IC go second. On ICJ, however, the other chefs actually challenged the ICs, right? So they should go first because they think they're better. There were times when Kaga-san challenged chefs that he was impressed with, but then, he probably had them go first to show their skills to the judges before the IC got the chance to ruin their chances of pleasing the judges palets. I DON'T KNOW.........

I'm glad I change that prediction of mine. Do you know the score, at least?

i could have sworn a coin toss determined the order of presentation on ICA. i think chef neal fraser confirmed that in the ironfans forums.

Well, BGG, a coin toss is a pretty random way to decide who goes first......
