Here's the synopis for tommorrow's battle: Challenger Ian Chalmerkittichai enters Kitchen Stadium for the first time to battle Iron Chef Batali. Renowned for his inventive cuisine, will Chef Chalmerkittichai leave a winner, or will Iron Chef Batali come out on top? My Thought: Ian Chalmerkittichai is chef in Thai cuisine. He owns Kittichai in New York City. I believe his approach can be entertaining to see. His reviews at: nymag.com/listings/restaurant/kittichai/Prediction: Even though I love Thai food, I would still give Batali some credit here. (I may be wrong, we'll see, shall we?) Final Score: 56-49.

Batali is the master - I say he wins.

Well since it's not a female I'm guessing Batali. I'll be generous and give him only a 5 point lead though.

The battle isn't over yet, but I had to comment on the tension in Kitchen Stadium today. Iron Chef Batali even slipped and had to be censored. That's unlike him.
It could go either way right now, but I'm going to have to go with the Iron Chef on this one. Like Arrianna, I think I'll give him a five point lead.

I missed this one. I'm very surprised IC Batali had to be censored, too. That really is unlike him.
Anyway, who won?

It was a very interesting battle. I'm not particularly familiar with the ingredient, and was impressed with the many different ways it was used.
Batali surprised me as well with his (albeit small) outburst.

It may not have been all that bad of a word, but it's still surprising. It's just that Food Network is a family station.

I was surprised until I saw the time on the clock. That's the sort of thing that can sideline a dish.
You could really see Batali's strategy in action in this one. How was it he put it? Put the secret ingredient in everything and just keep layering it in?

I was more surprised that FN showed the "outburst." I mean, come on, we know they only show about 20 of the 60 minutes of battle, so why did they choose to show that?
And what's with Alton's totally tasteless (whether true or not) comment about his mother? To me, that's much less excuseable or understandable than a chef briefly losing his cool under pressure.
I was impressed with both chefs' performances. I don't think lentils are a popular ingredient in Thailand, except in a few Indian-influenced dishes. I'd love to visit his restaurant.
