For instance, I love what some people would think of as oddball foods, like beet greens and raw potato.
Vegetables of almosts all descriptions are a favourite, especially if they're fresh from the garden.
There are also things that not a lot of people like that I do, such as rhubarb, squash and fruitcake.

Raw potato, HC? Wow. I like raw broccoli very much. A nice cold broccoli salad hits the spot!

AC, it comes from when I was a kid. I wouldn't have a snack when I got home from school, but sometimes I would get hungry about 1/2 hour before supper was ready. That was about when my mother would be peeling potatoes, so she would cut me off a slice from the one she happened to have in her hand.

Here's another one for you AC - I enjoy raw turnip (rutabaga, technically). My friends in high school thought I was really nuts for this one. Sometimes in the fall, when the turnips were ready, instead of carrot or celery sticks in my lunch I'd take turnip sticks.
And then there's my brother, who once took a whole raw zucchini in his lunch and fooled his co-workers into thinking it was a gigantic cucumber! He'd been taking good-sized cucumbers from the garden and been getting ribbed by "the guys" about it, so he figured he'd really give them something to talk about. It worked......

I had pan-seared sashimi-grade tuna on a salad last week; it was very good. It's the rarest I've ever eaten any meat and I surprised myself by how much I enjoyed it. I grew up in a household where the meat was always thoroughly cooked.

"Overcook" is a subjective term, Seph. You might think something's overcooked, but from my perspective it's done just right. How one views the doneness of meat is the product of a lot of factors, including their ancestry. In general, northern Europeans (like the British and French, which are both in my geneology) tend to cook meat more thoroughly than Japanese do, for example.

Now that I've never heard of. It sounds better than the raw zucchini, though!
