I was watching the Food Network Awards and they showed the spoiler of the ingredient. Yes, I was not happy. So now I am trying very hard not to think about it.

I get it you're not a garlic fan at all. That's ok.

No, I love garlic passionately. That is why I am trying not to think about it. If I start wondering what they will do with it I will drive myself crazy.

Well, the battle is over, and, in my opinion, the Iron Chef's dishes were vastly superior to those of the challenger. I was surprised at how close the two scores actually were in the end, even though Batali did come off with the win.

Batali indeed got this battle under his belt.

Batali won fair and square.

What surprised me was the low scores for both chefs. The scores were in the low 40 range with 60 being perfect. Batali was scored very low on presentation but won it with a better score on taste.

Interesting battle! I'm glad Batali won. The other guy seemed a bit weird to me. I mean, sucking quail brains out? Maybe it's tasty, but do we need something so gross in a completely nice garlic battle?
I'm still sick of the judges bickering. It gets really annoying after awhile.
I'm surprised Batali served the tortilla espanola without aioli! When i was in Spain, tortilla was always served with aioli and it's such a great way to use garlic! But maybe it would have been overkill since he had those great big slices of garlic in the tortilla.
Hmm...yeah, Alton needs to shave...

I was surprised at how close the two scores actually were in the end, even though Batali did come off with the win. I completely forgot about the battle Sunday night and finally caught it today. Hubby and I had the exact same reaction as MA to the outcome of this battle; after hearing the judges' comments, we were both sure Batali would win by a far wider margin.

I thought it was interesting how much more Batali scored on plating and the challenger on creativity. He only won by 2 points. I guess even with the bird brains the challengers dishes and Batali's weren't that far apart for flavor.
I keep wondering about the snail pasta.... I hear that snails have an interesting texture and keep wondering what slicing them like that would do to them.
Oh, I caught it on re-runs also.

I was wondering about the snail pasta, too. It certainly was original, but I wonder if it tasted good.
