Gee, the admin asking a question in "Ask the Administration"... that's a little weird.
Anyway, does anyone else feel that the Daily Horoscopes thread in Off-topic is clogging up the forum? I mean, the thread itself is perfectly fine, but Misstee's updates are the only replies it ever gets. It seems that off-topic had more new threads when the horoscope thread wasn't always in the "quick view" slot on the index. It's always the last post of the day, and it looks like there haven't been any new conversations in the thread, which is bad for site traffic.
Again, there's nothing wrong with the thread, but maybe it just isn't the right thing for off-topic. Is anyone with me? If you guys feel otherwise, I won't lock it.

It's particularly up to you, MA.
Some people (sometimes) respond to the thread and I even add fresher horoscopes everyday.

That's why I can't decide. It does *sometimes* get a response, and you do a great job of keeping it updated. It doesn't go against any of the rules, and it's a fine thread, but I wish there was a better way of keeping it isolated from the other off-topic threads.
Suggestions are welcome.

Why not make Horoscopes a member access forum? I feel that it does clutter up the off-topic forum, however, I do see that people do actually read these things, so I feel that this solution is a compromise.

I like the horoscope thread. I didn't realize we were not posting replies to it, I try to do that regularly, and I read it daily. Now that you've brought it to our attention, I plan to add my reply to it. Thanks to misstee for her fine efforts in bringing it to us, it's cool. I say keep it as it is. The gang will probably begin responding now that we know the urgency of doing so.

To bring another perspective to the discussion, I don't read the horoscopes. Sanji's idea makes sense to me - it does seem like a reasonable compromise. Those who wish to can still read it and reply, but it's out of the way for those of us who aren't interested.

While this idea would certainly work, I think it would be kind of sloppy to give an entire forum to one thread. If anyone can think of a broader category into which more, similar threads could fit, then I wouldn't hesitate to do it. I mean, creating a forum for one recipe isn't practical, but creating a recipe forum for all recipes is a good idea. Did that make sense at all?

No. But, OK. I think if we can add information like what activities occured the day of, that may be indirectly related to our horoscope, coincidently, may be fun. I'm always one who enjoys sharing my day with everyone. I think our Administrator should also participate more frequently..........You are our leader, we'd like to feel you are part of the family.

Well, if it's a member access forum why don't you let each member who wants one have their own personal thread for whatever their hobby or interest is. Or maybe just make it a Hobby/Interest forum as your subject? That way members who wanted to could have more personal conversations about things they are really interested in without someone who isn't a member of the forum reading about it.

I think Arrianna has a good idea here.

Well, MA, it's really up to you, but I'd go with Arrianna's decision. I like that idea. I would like to keep some things more private from non-members, this way I could share some of my other music, if you guys would like me to.

So cool! I really enjoy reading horoscopes a lot! For a week or so I don't do anything else than trying to find out more about astrology
