I think that some of our friends already know, I created my own YouTube channel, clips from Japanese TV programs that Iron Chefs showed up: www.youtube.com/channel/UCCuCrCY1pI2JdvIOJsNPF7w/videosI don't know when they would be deleted by copyright association. Actually one of the videos was already deleted by warining from them, and now my account is limited for only short videos up to 15 min. each to be up-loaded. So..., the long videos are divided into some pieces. Sorry about it. They are all in Japanese but I hope you can enjoy.

okonomiyagi, your friend's word is the one I wanted to say. Very uplifting! I think that it feels something like "the warriors go to the battle to become the master/king". Tets, Yes, Michael Nyman's music used in Kaga's opening introduction was compelling! I read one of Japanese fans say an interesting aphorism in his blog, "If memory serves me right, the very best ingredient in Ryouri no Tetsujin was the music." He said he was one of the non culinary industry's people, but first of all, he was drawn to the music of Ryouri no Tetsujin, and then, he got to have great interest in this show, cooking and chefs. Maybe in this way, some new young chefs were born somewhere in the world by this awesome show... I personally think that the original show's music and the whole atmosphere of Kitchen Stadium was overall western style. On the other hands, the new show's theme music and KS's atmosphere feels something like a little bit Japanese taste of warrior. (I remember that Tets commented in ICC that the new KS is like "Edo Castle".) Anyway, when the three Iron Chefs showed up all together with the theme music in this special, it was epic and I was excited!

Yes, the comments were overall good. The negative comments were just a few. But I noticed that the number of the posters to the IC FB page decreased compared to the period of regular broadcast. I couldn't find the members of complainers whom I saw during the regular broadcast. I don't know what it means... BTW, I think I have to say that Fuji TV said in the last comment in their FB page, "Thank you for a lot of "like" click. This time, it was "vs. USA" World Cup special. Maybe There is possibility of "vs. Italy" or "vs. France" World Cup special for the future." I think that it's nice if the chairman Tamaki does tasting. But there is a rumor that he is a picky eater... And...after I watched this special, I got to like the theme music more. The melody is epic and the sounds feeling like "I'm ready for the battle with full of pride..."

Thank you, okonomiyagi, for the interesting video. Yeah, maybe it sounds a kind of strange. They had their own version of IC though. And also, the new show had only 13 regular episodes. Wondering why did they think of bringing it to the other country in spite of only 13 episodes? Why not in the US (the biggest market) first? Because of Government policy?
Fuji announced this info on 2/7. (the new ICJ show aired in Indonesia from the end of Feb.) 1/22: A tabloid published cancellation of the new show. 2/15: Wakiya vs. Hiromi Yamada (the exciting one for better or worse) 2/22: Suga vs. Irie 3/1: Suga vs. Yoroizuka (cancellation was officially announced) 3/22: Kurogi vs. Kinoshita. (the last battle)
I wonder when Fuji decided the cancellation?
By the way, IC Indonesia looks really interesting for me. Maybe it pales but the chairman's action, clothes and opening scene tends to be just like Kaga.

I just found this news published by several sites in Feb: Fuji TV press bureau (2/8): www.fujitv.co.jp/fujitv/news/pub_2013/130208-054.htmlBIGLOBE news (2/7): news.biglobe.ne.jp/economy/0207/prt_130207_3984732949.htmlExcite news (2/7) : www.excite.co.jp/News/release/20130207/Prtimes_2013-02-07-6690-1.html?_p=1From 2/9, Fuji TV will start branding and promotion campaign of “Dapur Iron Chef (Kitchen of Iron Chef)” at a shopping mall in Jakarta, Indonesia that is a restaurant serving Japanese food. This is a part of Cool Japan Strategy standardization structure by Japanese Government and Indonesia is one of the most focusing areas. Fuji assumes major responsibility for image enhancement and branding structure of Japanese food by using “”Ryouri no Tetsujin (Iron Chef)”. As one of those promotion strategies, it is decided that the newest show of “アイアンシェフ(Iron Chef)” which Fuji TV is currently producing and broadcasting will be aired by one of the top TV stations in Indonesia “T rans TV” starting from the end of February. Furthermore, they made “RyoTetsu” Facebook page for Indonesian users (already more than 70,000 fans), information spread by Twitter, web broadcasting of the past Ryouri no Tetsujin, and also, develop the “Tetsujin collaboration dishes” by two Iron Chefs, Kenichi Chen and Hiroyuki Sakai and serve them at “Dapur Iron Chef (Kitchen of Iron Chef)”. Fuji TV will keep doing not only for sales promotion but also spreading wide range development.

I agree with you. It was a shame not much cooking and tasting shown but no other way, also, I think that the show’s editing team had such a hard work and did a good job to create that smooth flow with their cut, add, edit, cut, add, adjust…incorporating producer’s policy and previous fan’s comment.
Yes, there has been much good reaction from the fans, at least, as far as I saw them in IC Facebook page. I think it was much better than the regular air.
I have been looking for the rating data of this show a lot since 7/3 but I can’t find. As for the regular air, several presses have been constantly featuring and picking up the ratings data of the show. But as for this special, I’ve found nothing. I guess it’s because of almost no pre-promotion or no pre-advertisement other than announcement in their official site. They put CM on the Times Square in NY though. Maybe it’s because they were not sure how it would turn out with their 1st special right after the regular air ended in that way…
Though I looked for the rating data in the website of Video Research Ltd. (TV shows ratings researching company in Japan), they publish the data at FOC only with the weekly top 10 for each category’s shows. (This special's rating data was not found there)
So…I’m sure that fan’s reaction was overall very good, I think. The negative comments were just a few. Official FB page was quit in a few days after air and I had no time to save the copy of it, so I’m listing their comments as far as I remember (sorry if including a few comments with bad manner that might make you uncomfortable):
<Before 7/3> * What!? Eric Ziebold, Frank Ruta and Tony Maws!!?? Wooow!! Must see!!! * Looking forward to watch it! Can’t wait! * One hour air? Oh, no… They must skip the process of the battle pretty much… * Anyone is fine as a challenger if he doesn’t stand up on cutting board…
<7/3> * One hour is too short to air the four cooking battles by super chefs. At least we need 30 min. more. * The time slot is the best for Iron chef! Before, I couldn’t watch the regular show on time but it is good that I can watch this special on time! * Yes! This time slot is just for Iron Chef! * The judging members are better than regular air. * The judge, John Roos is biased… * The judge, an actress, Momiji Yamamura is not good. She is too nervous and her hands are shaking. * Three Iron Chefs have built a strong bond. Their tight-knit relationship is very nice. * It is very nice to hear that Suga and Kurogi called Wakiya “Aniki” (=elder brother). * No! Cooking process is abbreviated too much! * Oh, look at the Japanese Loyal box! Hiromi Yamada and some other old nominees there! * American team’s dishes are just all simple steak & BBQ… (I, Miwa, personally think just grill needs the professional skill for great flavor though…)
<After 7/3> * (After Fuji revealed more detailed episode of the taping on their FB page) * J. team captain, Wakiya ceded the right for the turn for the 1st tasting by the judges for the last tag-team match to the US team even after he won the toss of a coin…because it’s “away” for them and it’s “home” for Japan team! How great Wakiya is! He is the man! * I wonder if Wakiya and Suga have thrown away their each 1 point purposely for the last tag team match with 2 points for winner?? * I wanted to listen to the last winner’s interview!! * Where the hell does the Wakiya’s nouvelle chinois go? * I wonder what the ratings of this show was…? * It doesn’t matter with win or lose! It’s cooking program! They should show us more cooking process! * Non-cut version broadcast, please! Definitely we watch it!
---(7/26) I just recalled some more comments:
* Breaking news style of announcement for previous battle's judge knocked me out... Very nice, up-tempo and keeps rhythmical. * It was vigorous! My palms got so much sweaty right after the battle! * I would ask Fuji to air the full edition (perfect version) of this special on a later date!! They should show us such a great details & background of this show on TV, not in internet!! One hour is too short!! * They should have aired 4 battles separated in two weeks, Part 1 and 2. 2 hours x 2 days! Don't abbreviate the cooking time! * I want to see the background story of this show on TV, for something like friendship among the Iron Chefs or story of the dishes. * Go to the US, for the next special!! * CM video on the NY Times Square is cool! But can they watch it?? * Please don't quit this FB page after the air! Keep reading our comments, Fuji, please! * The three Sushi's flavors were arranged "Japanese""Western" and "Chinese", wasn't it? And those bases were Japan pride, Sushi rice! * Surprised that Tony knows the Japanese ingredients very much...

Sorry...I lost my video of this special by mistake (tragically) though I was thinking to pass it to tuthead because it looks like difficult finding the video... I asked other people for the video in some internet message boards, have not received good result but received only silence or warning because it is illegal due to copyright issue. About one of those sites, my post was immediately deleted by warning... Sorry, everyone, cognition level of copyright is higher than I thought... It's not found on release on FujiTV "on demand" site, too: fod.fujitv.co.jp/s/genre/variety/ser2189/As well as Tets, I'll try to keep searching it.

Hi, Tets. On-air was longer than "47-48 minutes". This special was different from regular new IC episodes. It was over 23:50 at the moment of after the 4th battle was finished. 13 min. that I said is "approx." Not checked for each battle exactly. The time of each battle was different.

I think it was a good episode. I think their new trial "relay system" was successful. They really did edit the four battles (30 min. x 4) into one hour! I mean it was better than I was afraid. They pretty much abbreviated cooking process (they made it approx. 13 min. for each). So if you are a chef or a culinary school student, it may be a little bit frustrated. However, the editing staff did good job. Overall, it was up-tempo and exciting. The difference of dishes between Japanese team and American team was remarkable. Someone said it was just like the difference between Japanese baseball and American baseball. It was interesting. In the individual battles, American team was strong. But in the tag match battle, Japanese team as strong. But, to be honest, I wanted to watch this as 2 hour special instead of 1 hour! In the 1st battle, Tony was amazing. He made "Dashi" soup with Kombu and Katsuo bushi like Michiba!

At least now I know not to bother tuning in to this one. I agree... Anyway looking forward to tomorrow night 23:00. Three American representatives seem hard to beat! Eric Ziebold Tony Maws Frank A. Ruta Three individual battles and one tag team match. 4 battles in total. Each battle is 30 min. for one dish. I want to watch non cut version!!
