I wouldn't be so quick to assume they changed the music for actual broadcast. They may have done so for the YouTube snippets, if only because they don't have online transmission rights for Backdraft.

ICC, you may not be far off from the truth -- great point! We shall see...

Ahh, that's a good point. I forgot that online rights may be different from television rights.

The on-air return of Iron Chef begins in about 10 minutes. It appears that a lot of people here do not get Fine Living. I plan to do a post over on ICC after the episode airs. I'll try to get some clips up tonight (possibly tomorrow) of any changes.

I've just started watching it. The music is different than that on the Food Network. It is dull to say the least (the music). So far the music is the only thing that is different. Everything else is the same. More to come.

I must agree. The beginning title sequence seems to cut out some of the battles and introduction battles. More to come after tomorrow's show.

I just had the my copy of the Mango battle playing on the computer while the new one was on TV, and they didn't leave anything out of the title sequence. They just used the older intro that did not mention the specials. The later Food Network intro mentioned the France, Beijing, and Hong Kong specials.

I'm just glad that the show is back on tv again, in an actual time slot. FN kept the show pretty "underground" for the past few years, so maybe some new fans will find the show now.
The fact that Fine Living actually went to the trouble of replacing the music (as opposed to not airing the show at all, I guess) gives me some hope that they may eventually dub some new episodes. They're actually trying to promote the show with these YouTube clips, banner ads, etc, so they clearly think it could draw some additional viewers to their network.

That's right. They did use the older introduction. That was what was going on. The specials were missing.

I had a feeling they would change the music. And that's a shame, because the Backdraft music really was part of the soul of ICJ. However, the fact that they changed the music track shows that they put some effort into getting the series back on the air, so I commend them for that.
I realize it's unreasonable to put up every "new" episode, but I would like one episode of this redone series to be put up for download, so I can see the changes for myself, and possibly rip the music (no matter how bad it is) for the downloads page.

I'll try to get something up tonight. Do you want the whole episode or just the sections with music?

What was the episode, and was it shown on Food Network previous to this?
If it wasn't shown on Food Network, I'd like to see the full episode regardless of music.

The second day of Iron Chef had a different opening. It has the special battles there and it is about Morimoto's first battle in Kitchen Stadium. The episode's main ingredient is Red Snapper.

I don't think we'll see any episodes that did not air on Food Network, at least not for a very, very long time. There are a few that will air that I don't have in my own collection (or on the ICC site), but that's about it.
