Glad to see you, KK...I've been concerned with all the news of the flooding, not knowing if you were anywhere near there...

Thanks for your concern HC
The floods in Victoria were in towns about an hour away from us to the west, and the current floods are on the main river (the murray river) that divides Victoria and New South Wales (about an hour to the north of us). The floods are slowly going along that river towards South Australia, so this time we wern't caught up in it, but there's still some concern for towns along the river.
We (along with everyone else) have also been following the flood situation in Queensland, where people died, and according to the news, there could be more tropical weather to hit them as well. People wanted the drought to break, I suppose, but just not like that.
This all means that the weather here has been really been mild (which is good), but it will soon heat up for some proper summer weather (which isn't so good). How's the weather where you are?

I appreciate the update, KK...like you, we've seen some awful pictures on the news. There was one rather interesting web site, that had satellite photos of some towns before and after the flooding. The weather here this winter has been colder than average...case in point, we had a white Christmas, while most of our family in Canada did not We've had more snow since, each batch melting shortly before the next batch arrives. Schools have been closed so much for the poor weather that there is talk of having to add make-up days to the end of the school year. The issue, at least in part, is that there isn't much snow clearing equipment here because we get so little, so the roads stay slippery (and therefore dangerous) longer than they would in places that routinely get snow all winter. All that said, today is beautiful and sunny - the warmest we've had in ages (64F/18C) and about 14F/8C above[/i] average. However, more snow is being predicted for the middle of next week The upside of a day like today is that it gives you hope that spring will come
