Okay, we have all dreamed of this moment for a long time. Now it is safe to assume to speculate Japan's next Iron Chefs. Get out our Michelin or Zaget guide books and let's "try" to scout out some some new Iron Chefs for Japan.
Here are the Rules:
1. You can only name a Iron Chef for the following cuisines, French, Japanese, Chinese, and Italian. Exceptions will be granted if there is a big trend in another cuisine such as Mexican.
2. Only one chef per cuisine. This isn't some top five list.
3. You must explain why you have selected that chef for that particular cuisine.
Other than that, have at it.

My pick for your next Iron Chef French:
Owner and Head Chef of Restaurant Quintessence in Tokyo, Shuzo Kishida!
Background:
He entered into the field of cooking in 1993, joining the kitchen of "Le Mer" in Shima Kanko Hotel. Three years later, he joined the "KM" restaurant in Tokyo. In 2000, he traveled to France to train in single star to three star kitchens.
In 2003, he joined the now three star restaurant "L'Astrance", under the guidance of Pascal Barbot, eventually becoming his right hand man.
In November of 2005, He was invited to the most prominent congress of international cuisine, “Lo Mejor de la Gastronomia” sponsored by Garcia Santos in San Sebastián, Spain, for a joint demonstration with Pascal Barbot. After the conference, he returned to Japan to open Restaurant Quintessence.
In November 2007, he was awarded three stars from the Michelin guide book. The award would go on for four consecutive years.
April 2011 he succeeded the management of the restaurant to become owner chef.
Why I selected him as an Iron Chef:
His message for the food that he prepares really set me off as a proper approach to food.

To me, there's only one choice for Iron Chef Italian, and that's Kobe-san. ;D
After all, he was quite young at the time of the original show so is probably still plenty vigorous enough for the job, presuming he would be interested in reprising his role.

I agree with you HC. Can't imagine anyone else in the Iron Chef roles except for the Iron Chefs themselves. This is one of the main reasons I didn't like any of the spin offs (ie - IC America, IC UK, IC Australia). This could also be the reason why these shows didn't do very well, either. But that's just my opinion

As much as we'd like to see the original chefs return, I think we can all agree that's a highly unlikely prospect. Kobe-san is obviously the exception because he was so young in the original series, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a completely new set of Iron Chefs.
The one person I'm most hopeful the producers will try to bring back is Takeshi Kaga. Chairman Kaga was largely the heart and soul of the original series. I know his character was pronounced dead in one of the post-finale specials, but they could easily find a way to bring him back. I sincerely hope they consider it, because having Chairman Kaga presiding over Kitchen Stadium would add a lot of legitimacy to the show, even if all of the chefs were fresh faces.

He leaves his Kitchen Stadium to go to some peace and quiet (maybe somewhere else in the world). Nobody's able to find him, so they just assume he's dead?

I wholly agree, MA. Having someone like Chairman Kaga, heck even a lot of the former KS staff(Kenji Fukui, Shinichiro Kurimoto, and Tenmei Kanoh to name three) would give the new format a lot of legitimacy compared to the old show.
However, the critical part to all of this is the chefs themselves. Will they be able to pass muster compared to their predecessors? This whole "experiment", for lack of a better term, is really a quest to see if Japan can put on an Iron Chef program that is as good, if not better, than the old version.
I can't wait to see both the results, and the food.

You'd have to wonder, however, just how many of the original judges/crew members would want to come back. It's been roughly twenty years since the original series aired - as with the Iron Chefs themselves, I'm sure Fuji would want to have a new breed of judges.

Maybe you are right. However, if they are going to market this as the successor to ICJ, some of them, probably the more youthful ones, would have to take the plunge and come back for more.

That would be completely in line with his character, too. His surprising return could be chalked up to his yearning to once again experience culinary wonders after his self-imposed exile. In regard to our discussion of returning cast members, how would you guys feel to see any of the original Iron Chefs return as judges? I think that would make for an interesting dynamic, with the old guard returning to judge the next generation. Of course, you could argue that they would be biased in favor of the Iron Chefs.

An interesting idea, MA, to have the former IC's be judges. In order to minimize any possible bias on their part, perhaps have only one of them for any given battle. One of the things I appreciate most about ICJ is the variety of judges, and the majority of them being people who are simply food lovers as opposed to food professionals.

Iron Chef had this wide variety of culinary experts, along with people of all professions - your actress du jour, politicians; hell, even a few sumo wrestlers. It made the show entertaining. Those who didn't know much about food, coupled with those who knew what they were talking about, made it interesting. It was also special when a judge had their own recommendation as to whom would be a challenger.
