Dessert battle is coming. Suga vs. Yoroizuka (a top patissier in Japan) www.fujitv.co.jp/ironchef/index.html(preview video is available by clicking at the the upper right of the box of "Next on Air") IC maniac memo: Yoroizuka-san's wife is an actress Naomi Kawashima. I, for sure, remember that she showed up as a guest judge in an episode in the original series but I can't find which episode it was... :

Ah...I got it now. She showed up twice. Clean mind! Thanks Tuthead! Naomi Kawashima never looks as old as she actually is... a monster... (The Addams Family??) I found the newest preview video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ung2S3dj7AQAfter this episode (3/1), it looks like we would have no episode for a while again. <*the episode# in the thread title was wrong. not 11 but 12. sorry.>

The battle was sooooo great!
This episode was just like the original Ryori no Tetsujin (IMO)...No...the dishes were dreamily fantastic more than original show's dessert battle level. Must see episode.
A guest judge, Kabuki actor Mr. Ebizo Ichikawa said he understood for the first time the feeling of a woman escoated by someone and given a dream dessert! LOL

Just to let everyone know, I'm still waiting for today's episode to show up on my usual Japanese source sites. As soon as I have it, I will post it for everyone. Thanks for being patient.

Fascinating battle. Surely this show is too good to cancel. Looks like the next episode will be on the 22nd, hopefully.

Yes, it's too good to cancel. At the last of this episode, they said "the next is the last match" and "into the new stage" What is the new stage? Japanese fans are in a mess now.

It's now been announced, evidently, that the show is cancelled, but may continue with occasional specials. Fuji TV is run by a bunch of morons - then again, anyone who has followed it over the years will not be surprised by that. They should have placed the show in a reasonable time slot during the week, not weekend.

I found the nominee Yoroizuka-san's site where he talked about his appearance in the last episode. (in Japanese) www.grand-patissier.info/ToshiYoroizuka/story/story02/50.htmlHe says; He has known Iron Chef Suga for some time. He also knew that Suga was worried a lot about his answer when he got an Iron Chef's offer. Yoroizuka knew the original Iron Chefs who took care of him a lot. He has a lot of respect for them especially for their mental strength as a person. He says, that's not they were chosen as Iron Chefs because they were strong from the very first, but their strength was brushed up more and more during the many fights they experienced as Iron Chefs. So he advised Suga that he might be going to have tough time but definitely he would take a dramatic leap as a chef, so hoped him try his best in this opportunity. He said that's why he couldn't think about saying "No" to this offer and decided to do his best, too. (FYI, his left eye is almost sightless) Anyway, it must have been such a tough battle for him. I understand that this show requires not only culinary skills but also pretty much mental toughness. Just like combat sports. Awesome show.

I thought it looked as though Yoroizuka had a glass eye.
That being said, I think it was a bit of a tall order for Suga to beat him. Even though I really wanted him to be the only undefeated Iron Chef in history...

I, too, am sorry that Suga's winning streak record stopped. But he is young. He is already extraordinary wonderful.
In the introduction part of this episode, Robuchon was talking about him that he was sure Suga would become one of the top chefs within 4-5th in the world in the future. I wanted to see his battles more. Hope it comes true.
