Iron Chef, Jun Kurogi vs. up-and-coming French cuizine chef, Takemasa Kinoshita (AU GAMIN DE TOKIO) www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFFvfSf_tXQRegular episode finale. Worried about Kurogi very much. They say "the last battle"and "going into the new expansion" What will happen?

"ファイナルマッチそして新たな ステージへ" I too wonder what this "New stage" means. At least it does sound like they really might do more specials or something to continue Iron Chef in the future. Hopefully they will actually announce something on 3/22.

Who knows what "next expansion" means, but it led me to remember that there was an internet only series based on Ryouri no Tetsujin a few years after it was cancelled. It was a Japanese production, but I believe that it was available only by internet streaming. Does anyone know anything about this series?

"Afield Restaurant"? Looks similar to Ryouri no Tetsujin. Chef Yamada appeared there! Sounds a bit fun. But I can't find those videos. It says that was produced & streamed by Mr. Keiichi Tanaka who was a freelance stage director. Actually Tanaka-san used to work for Nihon Telework (Japan Television Workshop Co., Ltd.) and after leaving Nihon Telework in '92, he was active as a freelance stage director and produced Ryouri no Tetsujin ordering to Nihon Telework. But I don't like it if the "next stage" means internet video only...I really hope it means coming back in the late time slot or at least continuing as special program. And if coming back in any ways, I hope the format would be improved... *Today Fuji began Iron Chef Quiz series for the fans in their FB page. (in order not to make us bored) They say they would continue it everyday until 3/22. (maybe acting obsequiously)

Sadly, the day of the final battle has arrived. I hope the theme and battle are spectacular. A theme never used in the original series would be sublime. Something like pheasant, celery, artichoke, ginger, lemon, anchovy, kidney, gobo...

The only one of the new series I got up early and watched live was the very first episode. I will probably do it with this one in the morning since it's the last one.

The theme is one of popular spring vegetables in Asia. I read the rumor that a female judge who was very critical to Kurogi may be back to KS as a panel this time. What should he do?

finished... Yes, Miwa-san, it is sad... I couldn't access the program via Keyhole TV, so I have no idea what happened. Based on your comment, I assume nothing was said about bringing the show to "the next level" or anything like that?

Well, they didn't use the word "the next level/stage is xxxx" clearly, but just mentioned about the special. So..., the next level = specials, right?
They just...a kind of announced it very simply by roll-up subtitle of the ending scene, "Thank you for all your support and looking forward to seeing you again in the special episode." without details about when or how often the special would be scheduled.
It's not completely cancelled but it will be surely continued as specials. That's good news. Hopefully I like it aired every summer and winter and coming back as regular program someday.
I think the battle was good and dishes were nice. But I, personally, was expecting something a bit more different in this episode, though...(IMO)

Thank you, Miwa-san, for the information. They said similar things when the original series ended, and we received three specials in three years, but that was all.
Thanks, as always, Keith, for posting a copy of this battle.
