Well, I got a TV program guide for December 2013 plus 1/1, 2014 but I couldn’t find any info about Iron Chef special. To be exact, almost half of the schedule of the last few days of December & 1/1, 2014 say, “not yet determined (=to be advised)” though I checked all Fuji TV’s schedule. Disappointed. I want to expect that they are under preparation, also we remember that the past new year specials were aired in the 1st week of January.
But actually, I’m a little bit worried. So far, I have sent my several supporting messages to IC official site and they always have put them on their fans message site within 24 hours. But the other day, after I sent my message “I’m looking forward to the end of year special.”, they haven't put it on the message site yet. I wonder what does it mean?

Thank you for the update, Miwa-san. Maybe there will be a program after the first of the new year...

Miwa-san: should the lack of a year-end or new year special concern us? Were the ratings from the last special so poor that Fuji TV has given up on Iron Chef for the forseeable future?
I would contact Fuji TV personally, as I did once before, but I know that the people there absolutely HATE to deal with non-Japanese speakers, so I probably won't make that attempt again...

You are really good at extracting potential information from me. Well, I don’t know exactly. My friends, too. But if I am allowed to talk out of my plain assumption…, yes…, perhaps they gave up this winter’s special.
Regarding the ratings, I still don’t know the ratings from the last special. But probably low. I looked for the ratings data of the last special on the official site of Video Research Ltd. (TV show’s ratings research company) but couldn’t find it. They publish the ratings data at free of charge only for top 10 shows each week.
During regular run, every press was interested it this revival show and chasing the ratings data and published it on their articles. That's why I could get it.
My speculation on the basis of rumor from internet or information from third class message board such as 2Chan in Japan, perhaps Fuji TV couldn’t get challengers or other participants. I read somewhere that even during the regular run, they had very hard time to get good nominees. So many people criticized about missing star chef nominee. It ended up to not broadcast every week. USA and Thailand helped new ICJ because those are very active Iron Chef market.
Also I heard from someone whose friend was a sort of famous chef, one of the reasons he didn’t want to challenge was the Iron Chefs were too young (except Wakiya). Because it’s no meanings to win them almost in his son’s age. No merit. Or if they lose against them, it would be a great shame. (I think this kind of chefs have no spirits of entertainment or contribution. Just his restaurant is important for him.)

Sorry to be so demanding, Miwa-san, but I really appreciate your reporting on what is, or is not, happening. Very interesting stuff. I also wondered about the level of performance of some of the chosensha. As for the famous chef who didn't want to challenge because of the age of two of the tetsujin, why didn't he request Wakiya-san? I wonder if he was afraid of losing to him, or to Suga-san, who is a fantastic Robuchon-style chef, regardless of his young age. Well, we can only hope that something great will eventually emerge from the shadows... Thank you again for your impressions and reporting...

It’s just my speculation. Maybe Fuji TV just avoided fierce competitive battle for rating shares during year-end and new-year-days period. (It’s very severe among Japanese TV stations.) So maybe spring or summer special is coming back. Yomigaeru ga ii Iron Chefs! And, ah..., Tets, you, too, wondered about some chosensha’s level? Looks like Japanese fans, too. Many fans pointed it out. So perhaps it was true that they could hardly get chosensha.

When Fuji TV brought in a ramen specialist, I figured that they had hit rock bottom...

I have been thinking that, too. I will call Fuji's audience call center.

Tets, everyone, ah... well... it's a shame... No plan at the moment! Yes, it is a shame, but maybe sometime later this year. Thank you so much for checking for us, Miwa-san. I really appreciate your efforts to help us stay informed about what is (or is not) going on with Iron Chef.

No problem. But anyway I was sad when I heard that. The conversation was like that: Me: When are you planning the next Iron Chef Special? Fuji: Iron Chef...? Please let me check. Hold on, please. Fuji: Thanks for waiting. I just checked with the section in charge, and found that we have no information about it at the moment. Me: Oh, no! So... you mean, you have nothing even for planning? Fuji: We are sorry but we don't have any information here at the moment. Me: Ahhh... I'm so sorry to hear that. I see. OK, thank you. Fuji: I will report that I had this inquiry to the chargeable section. Me: Oh, yes, please. s1.fujitv.co.jp/safe/contact/index.html
