"Tell me what you eat, and I'll tell you what you are."
-Brillat-Savarin
*music plays*
Fukui: "Nearly a decade ago, a man's fantasy became reality in a form never seen before: Kitchen Stadium, a giant cooking arena. The motivation for spending his fortune to create Kitchen Stadium was to encounter new, original cuisines that could be called true, artistic creations."
*cut to Kaga yelling 'Allez Cuisine'*
"To realize his dream, he secretly started choosing the top chefs of various styles of cooking. And he named his chefs the Iron Chefs: The invincible chefs of culinary skills. Iron Chef Japanese is Masaharu Morimoto. Iron Chef French is Hiroyuki Sakai. Iron Chef Chinese is Chen Kenichi. And Masahiko Kobe is Iron Chef Italian.
Kitchen Stadium is the arena where Iron Chefs await the challenges from master chefs from around the world. Both the Iron Chef and challenger have one hour to tackle the theme ingredient of the day. Using all their senses, skill, and creativity, they are to prepare artistic dishes never tasted before. Every battle, reputations are on the line in Kitchen Stadium, where master chefs pit their artistic creations against each other. What inspiration does today's challenger bring? And how will the Iron Chef fight back? The heat will be on!"
Kaga: If memory serves me right, ever since the opening of Kitchen Stadium, one man has constantly sought to bring down my Iron Chefs.
This man, a top chef in Japanese cuisine, is the don of all Japanese chefs in the Kansai region of Japan. He is highly regarded by many master chefs, and has sent many of his apprentices to do battle with my Iron Chefs.
A few times, this man also battled my Iron Chefs personally, sometimes even getting a win.
Today's challenger, once again challenging my Iron Chefs in Kitchen Stadium, Toshiro Kandagawa.
Kandagawa has long wanted to be one of the Iron Chefs, and has already been denied the position. He thinks I made a bad decision:
Kandagawa: Kaga-san. I respect you AND your decision, but you and I both know that I should be up there, with the Iron Chefs. I'm here to prove it to you, and if I win, I want to be named "honorary Iron Chef." This is my demand!:
Honorary Iron Chef- the title reserved for former Iron Chefs, such as Rokusaburo Michiba, Komei Nakamura, and Yutaka Ishinabe? That's aiming high, Kandagawa. If you think you can beat an Iron Chef, please try. But it will take all you have to wrestle a victory out of my men.
So, Kandagawa. Try once again to take down my Iron Chefs, and gain the title you so desire!
Kandagawa: Kaga-san, your Iron Chefs are going down- I'm going to win!
*Kaga steps into Kitchen Stadium. The camera pans around a large column, showing Kaga stepping up to centerstage. The Chairman looks around at the many features and ingredients in Kitchen Stadium, and his eyes land on a yellow bell pepper in front of him. He picks it up, and takes a bite. Suddenly, a large smile spreads across his face, as the camera pulls back, revealing the once-empty Kitchen Stadium now full of Gourmet Academy chefs. Flames burst onto the screen, and in both Japanese and English characters appears the words: Iron Chef. The camera pans once more around the Kitchen Stadium, and the events are now ready to begin*
*Kaga steps into Kitchen Stadium*
Kaga: Today, a chef the Gourmet Academy knows very well is back again, once more ready to challenge the Iron Chefs. He is the don of Japanese cuisine in western Japan, and is seeking out the title of "Honorary Iron Chef" just for himself. *Points to portraits* He thinks he belongs up there- let's give him a chance to prove it. Now let's bring him on! The Don of Japanese cuisine, Toshiro Kandagawa!
*Curtains flip back, and Kadagawa enters Kitchen Stadium. He walks up to Chairman Kaga, and bows*
Kaga: Welcome back. So, tell me: Why have you returned?
