"Tell me what you eat, and I'll tell you what you are."
-Brillat-Savarin
*music plays*
Fukui: "Nearly a decade ago, a man's fantasy became reality in a form never seen before: Kitchen Stadium, a giant cooking arena. The motivation for spending his fortune to create Kitchen Stadium was to encounter new, original cuisines that could be called true, artistic creations."
*cut to Kaga yelling 'Allez Cuisine'*
"To realize his dream, he secretly started choosing the top chefs of various styles of cooking. And he named his chefs the Iron Chefs: The invincible chefs of culinary skills. Iron Chef Japanese Masaharu Morimoto. Iron Chef French is Hiroyuki Sakai. Iron Chef Chinese is Chen Kenichi. And Masahiko Kobe is Iron Chef Italian.
Kitchen Stadium is the arena where Iron Chefs await the challenges from master chefs from around the world. Both the Iron Chef and challenger have one hour to tackle the theme ingredient of the day. Using all their senses, skill, and creativity, they are to prepare artistic dishes never tasted before. Every battle, reputations are on the line in Kitchen Stadium, where master chefs pit their artistic creations against each other. What inspiration does today's challenger bring? And how will the Iron Chef fight back? The heat will be on!"
Kaga: If memory serves me right, the first Iron Chef Japanese in my Kitchen Stadium was Rokusaburo Michiba. Michiba, known as the "Maverick of Japanese Cuisine," often incorporated European ingredients, such as foie gras and truffles, in his Japanese dishes, a practice that had not been even considered before. Michiba became a legend as an Iron Chef, and rarely lost a battle. Then...
*Cut to a clip of the '95 Mr. Iron Chef Tournament*
... Michiba retired as Iron Chef Japanese. The world was shocked. But Michiba never quite disappeared from Kitchen Stadium. He has returned several times to battle my current Iron Chefs. Today is one of those times.
Today's challenger needs know further introduction: Iron Chef Japanese I Rokusaburo Michiba is back.
But which of my Iron Chefs will he challenge? Michiba told me that he wishes to take on the youngest of my Iron Chefs, Iron Chef Italian Masahiko Kobe!
So, Michiba, the oldest of my Iron Chefs ever to enter Kitchen Stadium wishes to challenge the youngest Iron Chef? So be it. It will be a great battle!
Now, Michiba, show us that youth matters not, and that you still maintain your culinary might here... in my Kitchen Stadium!
Michiba: It's not about winning or losing. It's about doing my best, and showing the world that I can still be an Iron Chef!
*Kaga steps into Kitchen Stadium. The camera pans around a large column, showing Kaga stepping up to center stage. The Chairman looks around at the many features and ingredients in Kitchen Stadium, and his eyes land on a yellow bell pepper in front of him. He picks it up, and takes a bite. Suddenly, a large smile spreads across his face, as the camera pulls back, revealing the once-empty Kitchen Stadium now full of Gourmet Academy chefs. Flames burst onto the screen, and in both Japanese and English characters appears the words: Iron Chef. The camera pans once more around the Kitchen Stadium, and the events are now ready to begin*
*Kaga steps out into Kitchen Stadium*
Kaga: Today's challenger is no stranger to Kitchen Stadium. For many years, *points to Morimoto's portrait* his face was there, and he dominated this arena as the most powerful Iron Chef in my stadium's history. Today, he is back to challenge the youngest of my Iron Chefs. Now, let's bring him on! Iron Chef Japanese I, Rokusaburo Michiba!
*The curtains are pulled back, and Michiba strolls confindently up to Kaga*
Kaga: *bows* It's nice to see you again. You look good. What brings you back to Kitchen Stadium?
