Ota - Sqwizz-san, I'm in a deep conversation with Kobe-san at the moment and should have some information for you. IC Kobe is a bit secretive just yet but I'm sure he will open up soon. Fukui: Thanks big guy! Kobe must really have some big things planned for this battle, judging by the way he's been acting so far. Post --------------- Yeah... Hattori versus Himura, with Iron Chefs looking on. It'll be a great battle! --------------- End

*looking in the oven* And... the... calzones... are... Done. Now I'll turn down the tempurature settings and get the poppers in to keep warm. *does so*
Assistant 1: Okay, I got the ice cream machine started.
Good. I want to use olive oil, fresh cream, milk and eggs for the ice cream base for some milk shakes that I just added to the menu. You go get that and some large martini glasses for serving them.
Assistant 2: Okay, I got the things that we weren't using washed and put away. Before you asked, no, I didn't touch the funnels for the salad dressings.
Excelent. I know I worked both of you assistants hard during this half of the battle. I want you to get some plastic baskets, newspaper and some styrofoam cups. I'm going to use that for presentation on the poppers. After you do that, take a few to catch your breath. I'll call you if I need you.

Ota- Scuiee-san, I'm back here with the challenger. He has decided to make some type of olive ice cream after all. Sanji-san, we're all curious about the ice cream, of course, and wondering if this is going to be a sweet treat served for dessert, or a savory dish? I'd think it's sort of hard to make olives taste sweet, but then, I've heard of garlic ice cream, which is sweet. Sounds like you have something special planned for your poppers. Can't wait to see all your presentations, as well as get a taste of them.

The ice cream is just a small componet to a bigger picture for what I have planned for it. I'm not intending for it as dessert, but you will love the results... I hope.

Hattori: You know Fukui, olive oil ice cream, while unusual, is not actually a new idea. It comes from Greece where it is often paired with figs. It's usually served with a wine based sauce or, in other countries, with truffles. So it's not really that far a stretch for this battle. I am very curious to see how Himura will be using his version considering that he tells us it will not be a desert. I guess we will have to wait and see. Post--------------------------- Hattori vs Himura it is! "The heat, will be on!" Endpost----------------------

Judy Wong - Thank you, doctor Hattori, for that information. Come to think of it, when I imagine olive oil and figs together, it does sound very yummy, sort of exotic, too. Add a little fresh coconut and you may have something there. But, we will soon get to taste what the challenger had in mind with his olive ice cream creaation. Ohhhh, I'm soooo excited.

*to assistant 1* Is the ice cream mixture in the machine yet? Good. Now we need to get started on the sauces. You start on the cheese sauce for the poppers.
*to assistant 2* Break time is over. I need you to start on the olive, basil and sage pesto.
I'll get started on the salad dressings. Let's go.

Ota - Poo-san, (gosh, I hope that is not a nasty word in a foreign language) I've not gotten a word out of IC Kobe for a few minutes. He is busy preparing things but not saying a word, not even to his assistants. He is rolling out pasta dough and chopping olives, mixing things into olive oil, etc., but this is all the information I can give you at the moment. I'll hang out here for a while and see if there is more to tell you.

Fukui: Thanks, Ohta! My, the Iron Chef is being so secretive today. I wonder if we can attribute the silent treatment to nervousness... About twenty minutes are out of the way for this battle, so maybe we will be able to start guessing what Kobe-san is making on our own.

Hattori: hmmmm.... considering his background it could be just about anything. From a crostini or toasted bread, to a stuffed olive, to seafood. We do know he's making some kind of pasta but from the Prince of Pasta there is just no telling what kind it will be.

-----POST----- Oh, I'm being secretive all right... -----END-----
Making the penne for his traditional pasta dish, Kobe yelled out an obsenity. In his mind, he realized that the olives he was going to use for his first dish were going to take an eternity to prepare. Now what am I going to do, he thought, concentrating on his penne and keeping quiet as his assistants were still breaking olives in half.
"One of you check the fridge and see if we've got some three-week-old olives in there,," he said to one of them, hoping that he wouldn't have to panic early on in the battle. The assistant opened the door and, with his back turned to the Iron Chef, smiled. "Sir, there are olives in here. Don't you worry."
The Iron Chef nodded. "Good," he replied back. "Bring them out here, will you? Saves time for you to cut this up into penne form."

*hears the obsenity* ha ha ha. *turns to the assistants* Stick to the plan fellas, and we CAN'T lose. I'll go back to the stand for something special for the ice cream that we are serving.

Ota - Phooey-san, just to give you a heads-up, here are some ingredients IC Kobe has in his Seasoned Green Olives (appetizer): Fresh green olives, water, uniodized or pickling salt, white wine vinegar, lemon, dried and chopped oregano, glove garlic and olive oil. His penne pasta will be served with broccoli and green olives, also including fried onion, anchovy fillets, pine nuts, and a bunch of other stuff. He is moving around the station like a ball of fire so it's hard to keep up with him and still stay out of the way of the cameraman. Well, this is all the information from here for now. (Gee I wish Sakai-san was here).
