Ishida: But would a bell pepper sauce go with the pumpkin and shrimp filling?
...and really it's not the same curry sauce. After all the other one was infused with truffles and this one isn't. It does go well with the filling... but the pomagranites.
*looks at Kaga with large eyes*
I am so sorry Chairman-san, I just don't know what to think.

Okada: Maybe a bell pepper sauce with shrimp stock, chipotle peppers and some light cream Ishida-san?

Ishinabe: You see, there are two different sauces. This sauce has a totally different appearance and flavor. But I do apologize if you both feel this way.
Ishinabe: I thought I'd go out big with this last dish. -- the dessert platter. On the rectangular dish in front of you, you see three separate desserts. First, in the bowl I made of sugar, sitting in the graham cracker crumbs, is the Pumpkin and Pecan Nougat Ice Cream. The creamy pumpkin ice cream is swirled with the delicious nougat coated in chopped pecan nuts. The pumpkin seed brittle is standing upright, and is truly a beautiful and unique finishing touch to the ice cream. Second is my creation called Pumpkin Puffs. Inside the flaky pastry dough is a creamy, whipped pumpkin mixture. The puffs are half-way dipped in either dark or milk chocolate, then lightly dusted with powdered sugar. Lastly, in the tiny pumpkin to your right, is the Spiced Pumpkin and Rum Mousse. The pumpkin mousse is spiced nicely with all the appropriate spices, such as nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, etc. The mousse is then flavored even more with the rum, which cuts down on the sweetness of the dish, but does not overpower the flavor of the pumpkin. Alongside that is a small shot glass of the rum that was used in this dish. You may drink the rum if you'd like -- it's your call. Please enjoy this trio.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Lastly is a "Pumpkin Dessert Platter." The elongated plate is first used for the base of Ishinabe's ice cream. Holding the bowl made entirely out of sugar and pumpkin water, is a bed of graham cracker crumbs. On top of this is the bowl, filled with Ishinabe's own pumpkin and pecan nougat ice cream. In the delicious pumpkin ice cream are chunks of creamy nougat, coated with pecan nuts. On top of the ice cream are two triangular-shaped pieces of pumpkin seed brittle, Ishinabe's own creation. This sweet treat is truly a masterpiece, but the dessert tray does not stop there. Next on the platter are three milk/dark chocolate dipped "Pumpkin Puffs." Each puff is filled with a whipped pumpkin cream mixture on the inside and a wonderful flaky outside. The puffs are dipped half-way in either milk or dark chocolate, and have a powdered sugar dusting on top of that. These creamy puffs are a wonderful addition to this tray. Last on the dessert platter is "Spiced Pumpkin and Rum Mousse." The pumpkin mousse is a delicate, and sophisticated way to end this tray. It is sweetened with both sugar and wonderful pumpkin spices, before getting a small dose of the rum, which adds a unique and heavenly light flavor to this mousse. It is served in a tiny pumpkin, along with a shot of the rum used in this dish, which, of course, will not be judged. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kishi: This is a very decadent dessert. I just take my eyes off the ice cream. It's just me. I love the whole thing but the ice cream was spot on.

-----post----- I see that we're rapidly coming to the conclusion. I'm away for Halifax on business, and won't be back until Sunday night. It shouldn't affect the game at this stage until post-judgement interviews; so I hope you don't mind. -----endpost-----

Ishida: Ohhhhhh!!!
I have been waiting for this one.
*carefully samples each dish*
mmmmm.... I could just sink into my chair. This is heavenly! The icecream is so luxurious, the pumpkin puffs with the chocolate is divine, and the mousse.... This is the best dish of the night. Well at least I think so. So rich and splendid. I could eat this every day.

*Trying the icecream first. Carefully and not breaking the sugar bowl*
Okada: MMMM.... This is what I was expecting. This meets what an Iron Chef is suppose to be. The careful way you made the sugar bowl and the icecream is light considering the pumpkin. The Pumpkin puffs are light and airy and not to sweet. The mousse just flows down my throat with delight causing warmth from the spice and rum . This just round out a wonderful set of courses.

JUDGMENT
Kaga: Today's challenger came all the way from Canada to take on Iron Chef Ishinabe. The challenger has opened my eyes to Canadian cuisine, and I will remember his cooking philosophy for the rest of my life. Both chefs' dishes were fantastic in today's "Pumpkin Battle," but we unfortunately must choose a winner.
So, here's the verdict.
Fukui: Today Kitchen Stadium celebrated the western holiday of Halloween in a culinary fight to the finish. Canadian Chef Barber took on Iron Chef Ishinabe in Battle Pumpkin, with both chefs receiving praise from the judges. But, as Chairman Kaga said, there can only be one winner tonight! So, how takes it? Whose cuisine reigns supreme?
Kaga: Iron Chef Ishinabe!
Fukui: He did it! The Iron Chef defeated yet another challenger! Incredible! Let's take a look at the scores:
Okada
Challenger: 16 Iron Chef: 18
Ishida
Challenger: 16 Iron Chef: 18
Kishi
Challenger: 17 Iron Chef: 20
Total
Challenger: 49 Iron Chef: 56
Fukui: It was a close battle, but the Iron Chef defended his honor yet again and pulled away with the "W" today. Congratulations to Iron Chef French Yutake Ishinabe!

Ishinabe: You got me scared there, Chef. Great battle.
post------ Thank you, gang. I think I did some of my best dishes in this battle. This was such a fun battle -- one of my favorites for sure. end-------
