*Keiichi has finished mixing the shredded pumpkin, egg and rice. Having rinsed off his hands, he now turns on the wok burner and pours in a few cups of peanut oil.*

Ota - OK, Fuku-san. Chef Barber, just to recap, I have written down that you are planning five dishes, pumpkin bisque, harvest salad, Cantonese pumpkin stew, pumpkin lalkes and hallowed ice. Has anything changed? Have you added additional dishes, or decided to make less of these? How do you feel about the progress you're making to this point, regarding your dishes? I must say everything smells wonderful.

Ota - Sqeee-san. I'm with the Iron Chef. Ishinabe-san, how many dishes are you planning to serve the tasting panel today? How do you feel about the progress you're making? What do you think about facing a "peasant chef" who has used your leftovers for some of his dishes?

Barber: "Now!"
*Barber pulls out the baking tray with the pumpkin seeds and the spaghetti squash, and Isao slides in the bread rolls. Barber puts the tray on the oven top and shuts the oven door.*
Barber: "We'll pull these out at the 40-minute mark."
*Barber picks up the tray and shifts it to another work counter.*
Barber: "Now, the shells these pumpkin seeds are in are edible, so just shell the ones that look too black. Isao, get the blender, some garlic and some fresh basil -- we'll be making a pesto out of these."
*Isao uses a brush to sweep the seeds off the tray into a bowl as Barber begins raking the insides of the spaghetti squash with a fork, pulling out tendrils of matter and transferring them to a bowl. *
Barber: "Oh, and Ota-san? I'm good with the five I've listed. I might have to change the serving order around a little but I think we'll finish on time."

*We see the blender filled with garlic cloves, pumpkin seeds, and several basil leaves. Isao grinds in some pepper, tosses in a pinch of salt, pours in some olive oil and shavings of asiago cheese, clamps the lid on the blender and turns it on, holding the lid as a light green pesto is created.
*Meanwhile, Barber finishes pulling the strands from the roasted spaghett squash and hustles to the serveware pantry. He comes back with a lemon, a lime, and five wide-rimmed soup plates which he places on the counter.*

*Barber hustles to the oven and pulls out the hollowed bread rolls, which are now golden on the inside.*
Barber: "Lovely color. Right, let's go then."
He brings them to the counter just as Isao comes up to show him the blender pitcher full of pesto sauce. Barber sniffs inside.
Barber: "Excellent smell. Right, now pour that into the bowl with the strands from the spaghetti squash and toss it, and I'll go get the salad items ready."

*Barber brings the tray with the steamed vegetables to the counter, and grabs his knife. He cuts the lemon and lime into 6 wedges each, as Isao mixes the pesto with the spaghetti strands.*

Okada: The smells are wonderful and I'm getting hungry. The battle is going very well. I just wish I could taste these dishes as they are finishing. I think I would have to say my favorite Iron Chef would have to be Michiba-san. But I can't wait to try Ishinabe-san's dishes though.

Fukui: Well, Michiba-san's culinary creations certainly are fantastic. I wonder how the challenger's use of his "Broth of Vigour" will go over with the panel.

*Barber takes a plate and motions to Isao.* Barber: "Here's how I want this arranged." "You line the bottom with the spaghetti squash pesto, make it into a next, and put the pumpkin cubes and other vegetables in the nest part. Then you set a lemon and lime wedge on the sides. When we present, the two steeped oils will accompany each plate. All right?" Isao: "Hai, Barber-sensei." *As Isao begins work on the plating, Barber grabs a metal bowl and heads to the ice-cream machine.*
