*As Jia-Cheng and Sha-Shan finish up the plating of the watermelon containing the chilled soup, Chu quickly opens up a can of coconut milk and uses a spoon to scoop out the solid top layer into a blender. He then adds a cup of chopped pineapple chunks and some crushed ice, then pours in a generous helping of junmai sake and clamps the lid on. He then pulses the unit, then sets it to a steady blend for a few minutes.
*With one minute to go, he takes the blender jug off and decants the contents into five unstemmed martini glasses, filled with ice cubes, then adds a pineapple-impaled toothpick to each glass.*
*Chu, Jia-Cheng and Sha-Shen are now together, surveying the dishes laid out in their presentation area. All are complete.*
Sha-Shan: "That was fun, Papa! Can we come back again next year?"
Chu: (exhales in exhaustion) "Maybe when you're older, Sha-Shan. Right, Jia-Cheng?"
Jia-Cheng: "Sure. (smiles) Maybe when you have your own restaurant, eh Sha-Shan?"
*Sha-shan grins in response.*

Hattori: Looks like our last minute drink from the challenger is a Pina Colada. Interestingly he has made it with sake instead of the traditional rum. It's not to far a stretch since there are some bars that will substitute sake for clearer alcohols such as white rum or one of the more commonly used alcohols with pineapple, vodka.
I do have to wonder how a Pina Colada will work with the rest of his menu however.

Fukui: You have doubts about that decision, Doc?

Hattori: I do. Chef Chu's dishes so far have been a cold noodle salad, sweet and hot stir fried pork, pineapple rice with duck, and a cold fruit soup, all of which are very Chinese dishes. Pina Coloada's however come from Cuba and have a distinctive island flavor to them. It could quite easily jar with the rest of the meal no matter when he serves it. Not only that if he serves the Pina Colada at the beginning of the meal it could easily overwhelm the cold noodles, a very delicate dish. Served at the end of the meal he would have the opposite problem, too much sweetness after the fruit soup, it could easily overwhelm the tasters palate.
I will be interested to see how he handles it.

Fukui: Gee, Doc, I never would have thought of that. But that's why you're the resident food expert, and I'm just the announcer! And speaking of announcing, there's only about four minutes left in this battle!

*The assistant returns with the things that Chen asked for as he pulls the chicken wings from the oven.*
Chen(to assistant): lay the plates out and gather up some more plates so that I can serve them to the panel.
*The assistant runs off to do his task. Chen lays out the wontons, two to a plate, on the plates laid before him. Getting a cheese cloth, Chen then put some powdered sugar on the cloth and gathers it into a ball. Dangling the ball over the wonton plates, Chen hits the ball, sprinkling the powdered sugar on top of the plates.*
Chen: get the tenderloin dish and put it in one of the platters.
*The assistant goes off and does his task as Chen pours the chicken wings into the pineapple halves.*

1 MINUTE TO GO!
Fukui: This is it, everyone, the final sixty seconds of the battle! It's all come down to this- both chefs have only one minute to make any final touches to their dishes.

*Chen does a final count of his dishes. Seeing as he is missing one, Chen gets the lobster out on the last platter and pours the sweet and sour pineapple sauce over it.*
Chen: We're done.

30 SECONDS TO GO!
Fukui: Today, a challenger who once spent part of his life without the sense of taste took on Iron Chef Chen in the Pineapple Battle!
15 SECONDS TO GO!
Fukui: The battle was full of surprises on behalf of both chefs...
10 SECONDS TO GO!
Fukui: ... and the challenger went so far as to bring his daughters in as his assistants in battle!
5 SECONDS!
Fukui: Both chefs have completed their plating, and it looks to me as if the Pineapple Battle is...
3! 2! 1!
*The Gong of Fate sounds, and the battle ends*
Fukui: OVA!

Ohta: Iron Chef Chen, great battle out there today! How do you feel now that the battle is through? Do you expect a win?
Ohta: Master Chu, great watching you work out there. Thanks for the tastings, too. How do you think this hour went? Do you think you'll be winning today?

Chu (with Jia-Cheng translating): "I have to admit, I found it exhausting, but I did have fun cooking with both my daughters. Of course it's not possible to do a full course in imperial Chinese cuisine in an hour, but I believe today's menu should give the tasters a sampling of what my cuisine is all about. So, yes, I believe we have a good chance of winning."

===post=== Sorry about that, MA. I haven't been on all day. Submitting dishes now. ===end===
Chen: The theme isn't really used in traditional Chinese cooking. I had to adapt several dishes to apply to today's theme. As for the win, it's up to the judges now.
