Debut Battle: Potato Challenged Iron Chef: Chen
Ah, housewives. You'd think they'd be hiding in their kitchens, slaving away for their husbands and their kids. Well, this battle proves that you should never underestimate their cooking skills. She comes on the show, asks Kaga to choose the chef for her, and comes out on top with seven dishes! Housewives, unite!

Great battle! I think it is a classic one in Kitchen Stadium. Kadaj, you should see this one...It wasn't Chen's first one..

I loved Kobayashi's mannerisms! And twhat about he look on Chen's face when she went over to his side of the kitchen?! When Kobayashi told Chen to check on his peaches he looked so embarrased!
With the exception of one dish, I think it was the potato ball that the judges complained was too hard, Kobayashi did a great job.
I'd love to be able to watch her television show!

Has anyone purchased her cook book? I borrowed it from the library, and it is a good and simple find.

I think it is called "The Quick and Easy Japanese Cookbook." I highly recommend it.

Tell us if you find it! (It was a bit hard to find, being that the book was held at another library, but well worth it.)

Go to Google. It has many sites for the book by said author Kobayashi. I found it by typing in the book title. Easy.

Just found English article: english.kyodonews.jp/news/2014/01/268378.htmlHere is her recipe site “Katsuyo Recipes” (Japanese) and the site staff’s post “important notice to dear users”: recipe.sp.findfriends.jp/ recipe.sp.findfriends.jp/?pid=info_detail_140128aHer recipe site’s staff posted: “As everyone’s mother, she has delivered lots of happiness and smiles through her home cooking recipes over 50 years. It was just her pleasure that everyone has “full of smiles” days through home cooking. During her long recuperation, she had been talking to her recipe site’s staffs with smile, drinking her favorite coffee, “Even if I die, I would be so happy that my delicious home cooking recipes would stay as each home’s cooking culture forever.” Anyway so sad...!! Hail, mamma!!
