I've been thinking about this lately with the RP.
Is it a larger advantage to have sous chefs who know the kitchen like in ICJ?
or
Is it better to bring your own such as in ICA?
I can see how (with the exception of language difficulties) it would be to the chefs advantage to have sous chefs that know the kitchen since many of them comment that one of the difficulties is working in a strange kitchen.
What do the rest of you think?

I think it's better to bring your own, like in ICA. However, having all the sous chefs as part of the Gourmet Academy made the whole "Kitchen Stadium" story more believeable in ICJ. Each way works better with its respective show.

I want to bring my own sous chef if I am ever a chef on our RPG. I want sous Chef Ohmi! Regardless of whether they are our own or the KS's, I still want him.

Oh, I'm sure it helped add to the ambiance.
I'm just not sure which is better. On the one hand you can practice with you're own sous chefs. I just keep wondering about the comments of not knowing the kitchen. I know when I'm not familiar with a kitchen it always seems to take me 2-3 times longer to get anything done.
I wonder if they let the chefs familiarize themselves ahead of time?

I'd rather bring my own. Those are the people you are used to.

Remember the comment IC Sakai made on the last IC show about the side of the kitchen he was on, it was totally opposite of what he was used to and it was hard for him to work there. I think allowing the challenger chefs to bring their own sous chefs with them helps when it comes to knowing what the challenger wants his/her assistants to do but, using assistants that work strictly for IC's kitchen stadium has the advantage of them knowing where things are, etc. I'd say it's a flip of the coin or, personal preference.

Thank you. lol
I was starting to think I was the only one. It makes me wonder if there is a higher win rate for the challanger in second battles/rematches.

If I were a chef...I'd bring my own...one way or another.

If I were a chef...I'd bring my own...one way or another. Me too. It must be hard working with people you don't know.

I for one think that you should be provided with your assistants, except if you are not speaking in the native language.

You think so?

Yes, because they know the lay of the land.
Think of it this way, if you brought your own, you would waste critical seconds getting to know the kitchen. That could mean the difference in getting another dish, and possibly a win.

Remember how the non-Japanese speaking people got assistants that could speak whatever language they came from (ie: Siegel)? It could possibly work. I'm not saying it will or it won't.
