careful allez, this is a touchy topic, there is the scientific side, and the religous side.

I know, this has nothing to do with religion. Just post your thoughts on it here.

Ahhh well, actually it does. You see, I don't believe in evolution because I believe in God. If we're so close to being able to "create" animals from DNA materials why couldn't an "all knowing" higher being?
Ok, even if I didn't believe in God I still probably wouldn't buy it. I see no compelling evidence for anything more then genetic drift. Entopy and a few other things actually seem to be direct evidence against it.
and yes.. it can be a touchy subject.

Personally, I believe in creation but even in evolution there would have to be an intelligent force guiding the direction of it. Ya can't just throw a bunch of pieces into a box, shake it up and expect it to come out a tv all put together if you get my point. to me, evolution is when something better replaces the last version.

I think the whole theory of evolution is to distract people from creation.

Weeeellll.... sort of.
At the time evolution was put forward the religious institutions had a lock on politics and science. There were those who resented it and saw evolution as a way of destroying that control. If they could claim that the churches had been lying or are false then they could change public perception and take control themselves. Since many of the churches at that time had actually been keeping secrects it was an easy thing to do.
As a result there are those who are afraid that if evolution was denied that those same churches would use that to regain control and that scares them spitless. So... no matter how many facts there are that call the theory of evolution into doubt you will never hear it admitted until they have something to replace it with besides creationism or anything that smacks of it.

Even if I didn't belive in God, (when I didn't) I didn't buy into evolution....

My views exactly. I believe in God, but I also find science fascinating. There is some good evidence behind evolution, and it does seem likely. However, such a grand process couldn't have happened without a guiding force pulling it along.
