The past three days have been a horror story with the computers in my house. Charter had a power failure in my area on Wednesday afternoon and I was without phone service and the internet. I had a meeting at night and had to use the phone at the person's house where the meeting was so I learned then that Charter was down and technicians were fixing the problem. My phone came back on yesterday afternoon, and today I got internet service back but the cable guy is supposed to be here today to check everything because the external modem they gave me might be connected wrong since my phone didn't work when the modem is disconnected. I also discovered my Netscape was not working since the high speed is "plugged" into the Chater modem so I called the Netscape people, like five times today. It's a long story but I now have my laptop (unlimited dial up) and my desk top pc (unlimited high speed and unlimited dial up) for a totall cost of $7.95 a month. Cool huh? And those people (they are in India) know everything about fixing the pc or laptop. Plus I totally forgot my password when installing wmconnect on my lap top, and kept getting kicked off, they gave me a totally new password and now everything is working great, and I'm so happy, and I love those people on Netscape. Never knew we could work out good deals like that with ISP's. AOL was a pain in the toush.

That is a good deal!
I'm glad everything is back in working condition, Mick. That had to be frustrating.

AOL is terrible. I recommend never, ever doing business with them.
If you want high speed, I'd go with SBC Yahoo DSL. Charter is alright, but if one part of it goes out you lose everything- cable, telephone, and internet. I'm glad everything worked out for you, Mick!

The cable guy just left. He connected my box for the movie channels, showed me how to work it and let me copy his book of directions. Really nice guy. He was in the Marine Corps for 27 years before going to work for Charter. He was really strong, moved my entertainment center while he was on his knees. Cute, too. Now, everything is working right. YAY. All's well that ends well.

Glad to hear things have turned around for you, Mick! Alas, we're suffering from our own bout of computer ills. One of the reasons I haven't been on in the past couple of weeks (besides being so busy at work I was worn out when I got home) is that our iMac started acting like it has a virus. We've taken it in to the shop and should hear the diagnosis in a few days. I brought home my work laptop and hooked it up, and that's what I'm using right now.

I hope your imac is ok. We have really become slaves to technology haven't we. I can't believe we survived before they were invented, HOW DID WE DO IT?

I hope everything is OK, HC. I'm glad you can get on here from your laptop, too!
It's funny; we haven't had all this technology for very long at all. Imagine a popular historic figure, like Ben Franklin, I wonder what people like that would think of all this.

Ben Franklin probably knew this would happen. He was a very forward thinking kinda guy.
