I'm trying out a modified recipe for cassoulet. I browned some veal shanks and Italian sausage in a cast-iron Dutch oven, sliced up the sausage, lined the bottom of a Crock-Pot with the shanks, added some overnight-soaked white beans and chopped onion, deglazed the oven with a cup of water and added that liquid, continued layering with the sausage, more beans, chopped low-sodium bacon and a final layer of beans, seasoned it with savory, thyme, cloves and smashed garlic, and added enough low-sodium beef broth to cover the ensemble. It's all now on "low" in the Crock-Pot, and I intend to serve this over converted rice.

Wow, ICC, that sounds yummy.
We had Creamy Cheezy Noodles last night - it was hubby's birthday and that's what he wanted for dinner.

I made lunch for the Homeowners Association Executive Board members (me being the Executive Secretary), yesterday. Made mixed green salad with cheese and slivered almonds; a creamy lobster bisque with big chunks of the lobster, baked marinated salmon and talipia, and white wine. We're all watching our weight so there was no desert but did have a nice Irish cream flavored coffee. And to thank me for making lunch they all cleaned up my home office, i.e., sorting, filing, etc. Wasn't that nice.

Good point, eiko....but I've noticed that in some places more than just Roman Catholics go for the pancakes....

Yeah, there was a feature in the paper today about a local church doing the pancake thing, along with activities and fun stuff for kids and adults, pancake races, flipping contests, etc. They actually had sourdough pancakes made from a starter that had traveled the Oregon Trail back in the 1850's! The Pastor used to minister out west and received the starter from a parishioner and kept it alive over the years. But it wasn't a Catholic church either. LOL

If I get home from work at a reasonable hour, I suspect either lasagna or chili noodles.
