I know most of the music from ICJ comes from the Backdraft soundtrack, and a wonderful soundtrack it is. However, there is one piece of music I am searching for that has thus far eluded me in total. This is the music for the rise of the Iron Chefs into Kitchen Stadium.
Most online info regarding the music chosen indicates that the source of this music is from the Glory soundtrack, track 10. However, I own this soundtrack, and the music for the rise of the Iron Chefs cannot be found anywhere on this soundtrack, unless the music was changed in the later years of ICJ syndication in America.
If this topic is covered elsewhere, I apologize for the double post. However, if anyone has more specific information on the source of that particular music clip, I would be most appreciative. Thank you!

Not sure about the track inaccuracies for the official soundtrack, but I for one am a huge fan of "Glory" as a film, and I can pinpoint the exact moment in the film where the "rise of the Iron Chefs" theme is played. It is in the finale, when Col. Shaw is shot, and the remaining soldiers proceed to storm Fort Wagner.

Here's the thing: the official "rise of the Iron Chefs" theme is the Glory "final charge" music; that was used for the episodes broadcast in Japan.
However, after the first episodes of ICJ were broadcast on Food Network, it was discovered that FN never secured re-broadcast rights for the copyrighted music. They were able to secure the rights for the music from Backdraft, but either couldn't or didn't bother to get re-broadcast rights for James Horner's Glory soundtrack. So that was replaced with something more generic for the remainder of the ICJ English dubs.
Also, I'm inclined to think that the fact of acquisition for the soundtrack re-broadcast rights is the explanation for the replacement of Copeland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" (heard after the opening gong) with a continuation track from Backdraft.

So, in essence, the music was changed for American broadcast, or at least recent FN broadcast. Kinda figured something was up.
The multimedia files on the Sounds and Music page currently has the music theme currently being used for the rise of the Iron Chefs, at least as of the last broadcast that I have obtained. It is that theme which I am attempting to find in its entirety. The version on the Sounds and Music page is a bit short.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpptFjnsqWgThe beginning of this, followed by the section beginning at 0:28. (This is the original rise music.) You can hear an extended version of the original on one of our BKS videos. (The one where they introduce the "New" Iron Chefs.) It plays for about a minute as opposed the 20 seconds or so on a regular episode. filehouse.ironcheffans.info/index.php?act=view&id=116I don't know where the replacement music came from. I have never come across it anywhere other than Iron Chef.

I have tried very hard and been unable to track down the replacement "Rise of the Iron Chefs" music. The clip I put on the "Sounds and Music" page is one I ripped directly from a recorded episode, and it's so short because the music is generally covered up by Fukui's announcing. I worked very hard to find a usable few seconds to put on the site.

I think what they did was pull something from a public domain music library such as DeWolfe's. That type of recording isn't commonly released to the public.

Would the production company used by FN to port the episodes know what might have been used? I rather doubt Fuji would know what was used, much less be easy to contact them. Anyone know who the production company was that might have made this change?
I'm a theatrical sound designer, and I occasionally paruse public domain collections. I'll keep my eye out in those sources as well.

most of the music from ICJ comes from the Backdraft soundtrack A movie soundtrack is almost always (A) all original music or (B) a medley of songs selected to suit the scenes. It's been years since I've seen "Backdraft" so I can't remember the music at all. But, the music that plays during the IC rise in all the episodes I've seen is from "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff ... specifically the song "O Fortuna." See here for details and a clip: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_OrffIt's based on vulgar Latin poetry found in a German monastery ("vulgar" meaning "dirty" - at least to the sensibilities of 13th century monks). YouTube has a gazillion hits, here's one that scrolls the lyrics as it plays: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF7_PhB9coo[Edit to reference YouTube]

No, I'm sorry, but it isn't. That piece is probably more familiar to viewers of the movie Excalibur or an older Old Spice commercial, but it's definitely not the rise of the Iron Chefs.

No, I'm sorry, but it isn't. Okay, how about this: "You go, we go" by Hans Zimmer. Zimmer wrote (most of) the soundtrack for "Backdraft" and it's one of the songs -- if you play it, you'll hear a number of other references to ICJ music. If you can't find it -- I can send you the MP3.

That piece of music was written specifically for Food Network's version of ICJ- I'm fairly certain it's not commercially available anywhere. I've listened through the entire Backdraft soundtrack just to find it, and could not. That's why I had to rip the clip off of television for the multimedia site. And that' s a shame, because it's a powerful song and not having a full version drives many Iron Chef fans crazy.
