On October 10, 1993, the world was introduced to Chairman Kaga and his Iron Chefs. The show we came to know and love started off quite different than what it became. The episodes were only 30 minutes long. There was a preliminary battle of challengers before the winner of that battle faced off against the Iron Chef. And although we didn't get to see much of it due to the short episode length, the cooking time of those first battles was 90 minutes. I looked back at an anniversary entry I wrote for my old website and found this: I've never been so happy to be wrong. Once thought to be lost deep in the vaults of Fuji Television, we were in for a treat when they decided to rebroadcast the first 20 episodes during the brief run of Iron Chef Yomigaeru in 2012. (I still call it that, even if nobody else does. ) If you're looking for something to watch tonight to celebrate the occasion, here is that first episode. **For some reason, it won't play correctly on the Mega site, but it works fine if you download it.** mega.nz/file/BEJ3kA6J#1a-FWZAyLte0hGwFTWMhAOUTKwFhp-ErH17F5l7rNy4
