This morning I was out in the yard putting conditioner on the lawn and planting grass see in some bare spots I've been working on. There is a young blue jay that has taken a likeing to me over the past couple of weeks so he will follow me as I move about on the property, i.e., mowing, watering, planting things, etc. This morning he was watching as I came and went from the garage. I left the side door to the garage open and was in the side yard watering the seed I had just laid out. He flew from a bush just over my head and landed on the stoop to the open garage door, peeked in the garage and looked around, then, he went into the garage!!! He spent a couple minutes in there, probably checking things out. I was laughing to myself, when would a bird ever, willingly, go into a building? He is just too cute. Yesterday I was washing the outside of the house and he was following me around, then chewed me out because there were no more peanuts in his dish so I had to stop what I was doing and feed him. What a boss huh! A couple times when he has seen me at the computer and I had the window open he has perched right on the window ledge and looked at me for several seconds. Pretty smart guy. I love birds.

How neat. I missed blue jays when I lived in Phoenix; there weren't any there. They aren't melodious, but their cry was so familiar it was good to hear it again when we arrived in Nashville.

And, I saw the newbees, twins, for the first time, sitting in one of the Juniper trees. Papa is teaching them to fly but they only got about six feet then decided that's it for the day. They stayed in the Juniper for the rest of the day while papa flew around protectivly. I went out to look at them once and got a warning from papa so I didn't get too close. They are cute!

When I was young in Illinois, I saw like a red and a blue cardinal. I think they're very beautiful.

Me either. I didn't know they came in blue; I've only heard of the red ones.

Lol, cute story Mickster. I wouldn't get too close to the babies, you know!
I didn't think Cardinals came in blue. Misstee, did it have blue feathers on it with the red, or was it all blue?
