I can't help thinking that if Saddam Hussein had gone the other way and put all that energy he had, and all that intelligence in his head, and all his being such a tyrant into doing good instead, he would have been a great leader in history. Today we mourn two deaths of good people, Former President Ford, and the god-father (James Brown) . And, ironically, at the sametime we cheer the death of a bad person, Saddam. It's a strange world we live in. [glow=red,2,300]HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE![/glow]

I am sure you are right. Really isn't that the true tragedy of people like that? All that harm that could have been for good instead. Everyone has to choose for themselves though even if that means others may suffer. The rest of us will just have to do our best to make up for it.

It is a funny thought- if Saddam had been a good guy, how would the world be different. Think of how different Iraq would be!

Now that Saddam is gone out of American misery, isn't it time to bring the troops back from Iraq?!?!

It's not that simple misstee. If the Iraq's don't have the military in place to replace them the entire country will descend into chaos. It's what happened in Vietnam. Lets not have a repeat.

Exactly. Pulling out now would be a terrible mistake. Saddam was captured three years ago; his leadership ended right then and there. The violence in Iraq never stopped. It only got worse. It makes no difference whether he is dead or alive, the troops have to stay in Iraq.

It's going to be a loooooong time before any troops come back from Iraq. A sudden withdrawal would send the country into chaos. If they ever do come back, it will be a slow, tedious process.

It's already in chaos and it's already like Vietnam. That's what happens when someone goes in with no support from the rest of the world and ignoring everyone's advice. I'm sure there could have been a better way to handle/get rid of Saddam.
But, since the damage is done, i hope the war finishes with as little bloodshed as possible and that everyone can come home.
