Probably most of you have no real memory of one of the greatest singers from the pre-fifties era, Frankie Lane. He passed away yesterday from heart failure. He was an awesome person. I met him in person in the early 80's when my ex-husband and I lived in California, and we became friends with him and his wife. We were invited to his adorable home in San Diego. It sat up on a hill overlooking the ocean. For many years I saved the can that held the coca cola he gave me the first time. At the bottom of the steps leading from their house was a fish pond in a natural setting. It had several large fish in it. I also was able to kiss Frankie on the cheek a few times, sigh. He was a georgous man, and really nice. His wife was very sweet and kind as well. Frankie lived a long and full life, but it, it's sad to hear of his passing. I have many cassettes of him singing the great songs he recorded. Will have to get them out of the trunk. Some he even autographed the covers of. Rest in peace, Frankie. Thank you for being in the world. Love, Mickey.

I didn't hear about his passing, but then again I didn't catch the news this morning before I left for work. How cool that you got the chance to know him personally, mick.

I don't remember hearing much of his death. That is great that you got to meet Frankie in person well before he died. His family and friends are in my prayers.
