Now this was a great battle. Just looking at the size of cuts of the secret ingredient. Sure had my mouth watering.
During the tasting section and listening to the judges comments, I was getting the impression that Flay was going to win. I wasn't impressed with Issac M. as a judge.
What a surprise when Kelly was announced as the winner. He beat Flay by two points in the taste portion.
I wish I had a big doggie bag to take any left over steaks home.

Nitro, you and I were on exactly the same wavelength....I felt the same way about the judges' comments, Isaac M, and the surprise ending.

Ditto to you both. I thought Flay won with the Philly steak dish alone! Dang i wanted some of that!

I have to admit that this battle was one of the few that really had my mouth watering. I am not a big fan of fish so those battles leave me cold.
I was really surprised at the size of the steaks. Those new infared grills were something else.
In my opinion, Iron Chef America keeps getting better and better with each battle. The secret ingrediants have been different and fascinating. So far the caliber of the challengers has been very high, making most of the battle decisions extremely close. There haven't been automatic wins for the Iron Chef as opposed to Iron Chef Japan.

The infared grills were awesome- and they gave the episode a little bit of a backstory, like ICJ. Nice touch.
Overall, I couldn't agree more- the quality of ICA is improving DRAMATICALLY. The episodes used to be way under the quality of ICJ, but they are improving. Will they ever reach the original's caliber- no? Will it become a worthy sequel- if things continue as they are, absolutely. The episodes, as of late, have been fantastic.
