Yay! The return of "Iron Chef Japan" has brought these boards back. But don't forget that the American version is still around.
I admit I haven't been here so much, but I'm still watching ICA. While I think the challengers lately haven't been on a par with the chefs from the early seasons (Bayless, Andres, Burke, etc.), and the whole "Next Iron Chef" thing has really watered down the title of Iron Chef, there's still some great cooking and creative themes to be had.
Anything memorable from the past year stand out for you?

We still watch ICA regularly, but I can't think of any seriously memorable moments...we mainly enjoy the competition aspect of the show.

The one I wanted to see was Zakarian vs. Frauender in Battle Yak, just for the curmudgeon-off between John Curtas and Jeffrey Steingarten.
I know that there have been moments on the show that still wow me, but here's where my brain freezes up and I can't recall them offhand. Trust me, they were good.
And whatever else may be said about ICA, thank God the Food Network still has a show about great CHEFS making great FOOD!

Yup, still watching, despite the new rules.
Did anyone else see the the Forgiones vs. Waxman battle? ICA has always downplayed the drama aspect as opposed to ICJ, but that story would've been perfect for the Japanese version.

I understand. just enjoy competition and technique or enjoy more drama and back story... it's just ICA and ICJ...

ICA is okay these days, but I'm not a weekly viewer.
I would like to see some more judges who are there for the experience (not writers, not TV hosts - just give me people who are excited to go and eat ten dishes). Maybe do a sweepstakes where the winner goes to a taping of ICA and gets to judge a battle?

Maybe do a sweepstakes where the winner goes to a taping of ICA and gets to judge a battle? I would also like to see more people who aren't professional foodies be judges. To me, that was one of the fun parts of ICJ. They could be known personalities (like reality TV regulars [Deadiest Catch/American Chopper/Axmen/etc.], Congressmen, mayors, governors) or sweepstakes winners like ICM is suggesting.

I got a kick out of seeing Jeffrey Steingarten with the rapper Bonecrusher or the wrestler Batista. ;D
