I'm a little peeved by the fact that Flay gets to judge. It's not so much that it's because it's Flay so much as it is because one Iron Chef gets to sit back and relax.
Then again, he's been with the show the longest (if you don't count Morimoto) and he is the most "American" in the current roster, so I guess it makes sense...

Agreed. That would certainly make the most sense.
I do appreciate the effort to insert an actual dramatic storyline into ICA with this tournament, though. Drama is something that ICA has been short on in recent years.

So I just watched Morimoto's battle (Battle Liver). The new rules are alive, and while it'll take some getting used to, Morimoto's expression when the Curveball was unveiled was priceless.
I could personally do without the first dish being due at 20 minutes--it takes away from the battle, and isn't that what everyone wants to watch?

I forgot to record Sunday's battle. I must check when it will replay, because I love watching Morimoto in action.

I think next week they'll replay the previous battle and then have the new episode later in the day. At least, that's what they did this time around.

One thing I'll always remember from this tournament -- Garces emulating (at the very least) Grant Achatz's frozen mousse dessert.
