Debut Battle: Battle Umeboshi Challenged Iron Chef: Michiba
If you don't know who this person is, then don't worry. Although you may know the number of dishes he prepared in the full hour of cooking. Kaji-san was the first and only challenger in the history of Iron Chef to make eight dishes in one hour. Although he lost to Michiba, he showed determination throughout the battle.

Wasn't that the battle where during tasting, michiba starting getting snappy at mayuko takata, for complaining about one of his dishes?

You would be correct. This would be the battle where TV viewers thought that Michiba called Mayuko Takata a (b-bomb), although later it was revealed that he only "tsk'd". This is also Michiba's first battle after fighting an illness for the past two months.

That's what I thought when I first heard that Michiba was ill. The battle before he went on sick leave, he lost. So not only was he feeling a lot better, he was cooking a lot better as well.

I thought that the battle before his stress leave was the sweet potato battle which he won?

My episode guide says his last battle before the leave was against Zeng Mingxing with the theme of blue crab, which he lost. After that, it was Chen versus Yukihiro Noda of Sabatini Roppongi with a theme of sardine, the first battle without Michiba's services.

That's correct when saying that was the first tie in the history of the show, but Michiba still had to partake in the 1995 Mr. Iron Chef championship. And seeing as he had won the 1994 installment, it's almost to say he was "forced" to compete. So the tiebreaker against Lin Kunbi wasn't his last battle...just his last "original" battle.
And to be honest, this conversation should be moved to another topic.

I enjoyed this battle, there was so much tension when Kaga was announcing the verdict.
