Script for Iron Kids: The First Rising
Part One
Justin: More than a decade ago, a girl's fantasy became a reality in a form never seen before: Kitchen Clubhouse, a giant cooking meetinghall. The motivation to create Kitchen Clubhouse was to encounter new, original cuisines that could be called true, artistic creations.
Anna: Allez Cuisine!
Justin: To realize her dream, she secretly started choosing the top kids of various styles of cooking. And she named her kids the Iron Kids: the invincible kids of culinary skills. Iron Kid Japanese is Charlotte Michiba. Iron Kid French is Marty Ishinabe. Iron Kid Chinese is Julie Kenichi. Kitchen Clubhouse is the meetinghall where Iron Kids await the challenges from master kids from around the United States and Canada. Both the Iron Kid and challenger have one hour to tackle the theme ingredient of the day. Using all their senses, skill, and creativity, they are to prepare artistic creations never tasted before. And if ever a challenger wins over the Iron Kid, he or she will gain the people's ovation and fame forever. Every battle, reputations are on the line in Kitchen Clubhouse, where master kids pit their artistic creations against each other. What inspiration does today's challenger bring? And how will the Iron Kid fight back? The heat will be on!
Anna: If my memory serves me right, I had a dream back in September of 1993. My goal was to build a clubhouse in which the top culinary kids fight for glory. But first, like my hero Chairman Takeshi Kaga, I had to choose the kids who would stand tall and proud as Iron Kids. The first kid I sought was a kid from the Lone Star State...someone who would look good in dark green. And gold.
*cut to Marty's house*
Marty: Mom, how come you never let me cook a fantastic dinner alone?
Marty's Mother: Because I'm afraid you'll burn yourself. I don't want to take that chance.
Marty: Just once I want to show you that I'll be perfect cooking something for a family of five! I'll show you!
Marty's Mother: Don't you use that tone of voice on me, Mister...
*knock at door*
Marty: Why is someone knocking on the door? *answers door* Hello?
Anna: Hello. My name is Anna Kaga, founder of Kitchen Clubhouse. Would you be Marty McDonald of Dallas, Texas?
Marty: Yes...why are you even here? How did you know I exist?
Anna: That is not important at the moment. Just bring your butt to Denver, Colorado with a set of green shirts. I'd prefer you bring the dark green color. Some gold will help. It'll suit you best.
Marty: Sure. Whatever.
Anna: I must be going now. *starts to leave*
Marty: You still didn't tell me why you came here...! *shuts door* Mom, you have to bring me to the airport. Then to Colorado. It's for some sort of club. I don't know why. Before that, though...we must go get dark green shirts with gold. It's recommended.
*cut to Kitchen Clubhouse*
Anna: Well, I have one Iron Kid down and out. Who shall I search for next? How about the Japanese Iron Kid? I hear there's a talented girl living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Perhaps she'd be best for the blue and red.
*cut to Charlotte's house*
Charlotte VO: *writing in journal on couch* Today I got to help Mom out in the kitchen making lunch. I found out that minestrone soup is very good to make and eat. Maybe that might help me out in my future endeavors.
*knock on door is heard*
Charlotte: I'm coming! *opens door* May I help you?
Anna: Charlotte Sheller of Charlotte, North Carolina. My name is Anna Kaga of the newly formed Kitchen Clubhouse. Ask me why I'm here.
Charlotte: Why are you dressed like that dude in sequins from Las Vegas? And why are you here? Please tell me.
Anna: Pack up and meet me in Dallas tomorrow. We've got work to do. And show up in some blue and red clothing!
Charlotte: Okay. Goodbye, Miss Kaga. *shuts door* What was that for? Well, off to write some more in my journal and then get my folks to take me to Dallas. *sits back on couch*
*cut to outside Charlotte's house*
Anna: That's the girl who's going to lead the new generation in Japanese cuisine around these parts? I'm in big trouble. Before I start to panic, I have to travel to...St. Louis, Missouri. That's where I can find my Iron Kid Chinese.
*cut to backyard of Julie's house*
*Julie is on swing, friend Madison is on top of slide*
Julie: Madison, tell me why you don't think Home Economics is good for a girl in the third grade?
Madison: I just don't think it's safe. I mean, my mom won't let me touch a knife without her holding it with me. And those knives aren't even sharp!
Julie: Fine. You have a point. *heads towards house, bumps into Anna* Ouch! What or who are you?
Anna: I would be the Chairwoman of Kitchen Clubhouse, a new foundation based on a Japanese cooking show.
Julie: What do you mean?
Anna: Julie Adams, I am the Chairwoman of the Iron Kids! I'm the person who's going to change your life forever.
Madison: *still on slide* Ooh...sounds interesting.
Anna: *to Madison* Quiet! *to Julie* I hope you have plenty of yellow to go around for the next few weeks. You'll be leaving the house tonight. Your mother already confirmed it.
Julie: Fine then. Madison, I'll write to when I get a better feel for a pencil.
Madison: Okay. You take care!
Julie: I will. Don't worry!
Anna VO: I have found all of my Iron Kids. They are the new generation of junior chefs...even though they're at 7 and 8 years old.
*cut to Kitchen Clubhouse*
Marty: Nice place.
Julie: I know. Isn't it wonderful?
Charlotte: Wonderful doesn't even describe it.
Anna: I summon the Iron Kids!
Marty, Charlotte, Julie: Iron Kids?!?
Marty: What did you just call us?
Anna: I called you three Iron Kids, Ishinabe-san.
Marty: What happens now that we're Iron Kids...wait. Ishinabe-san? What was that for?
Anna: You'll find out soon enough. Now as I was saying: You three are the Iron Kids: the invincible kids of culinary skill!
Charlotte: I'm liking that heading.
Julie: I know. Now we're talking. I might as well have the skills of a famous Chinese chef. I'm guessing that's going to be my title, right?
Anna: Right, Kenichi-san.
*Julie looks at Anna strangely*
Charlotte: Does this mean I'm a girl version of the adult Japanese chef?
Anna: We're two for two, Michiba-san.
*Charlotte gives a toothy grin*
Marty: That makes me, Ishinabe-san, the best French chef of all childkind!
Anna: That's the spirit! But that's also enough. Listen up. For this first battle, all three of you will be rising. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
Charlotte: Rising?
Anna: You heard me right. You're rising up on platforms to be seen later. Now, let's get to some better business. Follow me.
*all four head towards a closet door*
*quad stops at door*
*Anna opens door and appears to be getting something*
Julie: What is she doing?
Charlotte: I don't know. But this is getting better.
Anna: Before you say a word, the props are fake. Only Julie and Marty get props. Charlotte, you don't get a thing.
Charlotte: That must be a good thing. *smirks*
Anna: Marty, here's a fake pear for you. *hands Marty pear* Julie, it looks like this fake cleaver is yours. *hands Julie cleaver*
Julie: I get a fake knife. Cool!
Anna: Don't start. Now, the next part is coming up soon. Follow me to find out what it is!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Justin: On the next Iron Kids: Part two of the story takes you to the Photo Lab, underneath the higher dais, and Kitchen Clubhouse's battle facilities! Don't miss it!
*commercials play, then credits*
