I was cleaning the inside of my microwave this morning and noticed that the paint on the inside top is blistering and peeling away. I'm wondering if there is any kind of paint that can be applied to it to repair it or should I just get rid of the thing? How does one go about disposing of a microwave anyhow?

Ooh, I'd just get rid of it. When you deal with the insides of electronics, especially ones that prepare food, it's easier and safer to just get a new product most of the time.
Disposing of a microwave... now that's a new one. I'd contact your local garbage men and see what they say.

True, MA. And microwaves are pretty inexpensive now days anyway. I could probably take it to the Waste Management transfer station.

wow, how long have you had it that the paint peeled? lol Ours is less than 5 years old and the numeric touch pad is half dead. The shortcut keys all work though, so it's still fine for us. We just can use the numbers 4-9 and the 0 LOL

I've had it about six years. Only paid $60.00 for it, even though it is 1,000 (what ever they are), it is a Samsung, and I bought it at the Safeway supermarket. But it had all the cool options. Oh well. Maybe the cleaner I use on it is too strong. Next time I'll know better.

.... I have to ask, it had paint?
All the microwaves I've had have plastic interiors.

Nope, it's paint. Must be some kind of high heat paint like they use for car engines or something. I told you it was cheap. But it has worked very well the past six years. Where the paint is peeling away there is metal. The outside of it is plastic I guess. Anyway, I need one before Christmas so am going out today to get one.

Not too much excitement buying a new microwave, they all look pretty much alike. I got a GE 1100 watt., white. It has more options than the old one did. After the new year I'm going to gather up all the dead appliances around here and take them to the transfer station to dump.
