So, is anyone cooking for Christmas? If you are, this is the thread to share what you're making. I've got an invite this year, so my kitchen won't be in use.

We do Christmas as SO"s parents, but Christmas Eve is just the 4 of us. This year I'll be doing the Feast of Seven Fishes.. well, actually Nine. A friend of mine was telling me about it last year and i was intrigued enough that I"ve been researching and planning for it all of this year. As I'm not Italian or Catholic, I am making:
Miso soup with clams Deep fried oysters (or maybe angels on horseback? Haven't decided yet) crab wontons skillet roasted smelts salt grilled sardines Leeks stuff with faux crab paella misoyaki salmon Filipino sauteed squid
The funny thing is, I was going to start with FOUR Fishes, but then I found more and more recipes, then the supermarkets started all their seafood specials, and now I have Nine! LOL Luckily, a lot of the recipes are small things, kinda like appetizers or side dishes. And a few of them I'm starting today and finishing them tomorrow.

Sounds like an awsome dinner Eiko, let us know how it went? I managed to convince them to let me do the ham. It was great. I love it when one of my personal recipes get positive reactions like that. It makes me feel all tingly inside.

It all came out rather well, if I say so myself. The boys didn't like the squid, but apparently they just don't like squid, so that's ok. They liked everything else. We have some leftovers, mostly the paella, crab wontons and the salmon (It was a pretty big filet), but there isn't really anything else. It took us a good 3 hours to eat it all. LOL Isn't it great when other people like your food too. Glad your ham was a hit Arrianna.

Eiko, your dishes sound really yummy. I had a couple people over. I made the entire dinner, a pasta with scallops and shrimp, a surprisingly good dip from pickled herring, shrimp, onions and cream, bbq sauce over meatballs, beef tenderloin steaks, cranberry/pineapple sauce, fruit compote and pumpkin cheese cake. We had some peppermint schnappes and a wine punch. Now I'm getting ready for my new year's eve party; having four people.

Everything in this thread sounds wonderful. For Christmas I had fillet mignon wrapped in bacon and topped with gorgonzola cheese. There was allot of food, but the fillet mignon was the best.

I've been working on the new year's eve party food. Having Mexican. The taco shells with lots of good filling, i.e., ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, beans, sour cream and all the other accessories for it, etc., a chili pie, chili soup (lots of chili stuffs - LOL). Seven layer dip and chips, cheese dips, a fruit and cream cheese stuffed angel food cake topped off with strawberry glaze and frosted with thick whipped cream. I made it from scratch and it's in the freezer now. Got the recipe off the internet. We will have wine and champagne, coffee and/or tea. Lots of confetti poppers, balloons all over the floor, and noise makers. I've invited four other people so it will be noisy here. YAY! [glow=red,2,300]HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE[/glow]. I hope 2007 is filled with lots of fun, and that all your good wishes and dreams come true. Happy New Year to you Sakai

Sounds like quite the New Years Mickster. We just have Belguim waffles at midnight. Glad your ham was a hit Arrianna. ..... sorry, trying to get over the idea of someone not liking squid. lol, Yeah it is great!
