From Martha this a.m. Empty raw yoke from large eggs, make a hole in top of egg shell, about 1/2 inch after empty, boil egg shell in water and vinegar for about 20 minutes to kill any bacteria, then let dry overnight. You can also color the shell at this time. Next day, melt any kind of chocolate you want, use something like a paper cone with the end cut off to put the melted chocolate in empty shells, fill through the hole on the top of shell and let chocolate harden for about a day. You can use the egg carton to keep the eggs standing still. Leave the egg shells unpeeled. You can give them for gifts, put them in Easter baskets or whatever. Then when you want to eat the chocolate, just peel the shell away. I thought this was really cool.

I was watching the Today show this morning and Martha Stewart was on making them. I'm going to try it.

You can also get really creative and make filled chocolate eggs by putting jelly in the middle before filling with chocolate, or peanut butter, yum, or even chop up jelly beans and put that in it. Also, frosting or ?

Thanks for the recipe, Mickster! MA, I think this forum should have a "Recipe" section.

I stumbled across that when she was making them. I admit to being tempted. I wonder if you could make your own "cream filling". hmmmm.....

I think there are lots of cool things a person could do when making those eggs. I was thinking of getting one of those big plastic eggs that come apart, could cut a hole on one end, pour in the melted chocolate like a third of the way, let it cool a bit, pour in jelly beans and fill it with icing, then fill it up with more chocolate and let it harden. Before putting the two sides together , before the chocolate, spray the inside of the plastic egg with something like Pam so the chocolate doesn't stick to the plastic egg, and you are able to take the plastic egg off with no problem.

How do white, and dark chocolate differ in taste? Have you had white/dark chocolate before? Or you just mean this recipe? The white chocolate is sweeter, to me..

White chocolate only has the cocoa butter in it.

AC, I wasn't talking about the recipe, I was talking about the two types in general.

Yes, but that's the difference. Cocoa butter tends to be rich but it doesn't have much flavor so white chocolate is rich but it tastes of a rich milk with a cocoa flavoring rather then chocolate with a milk flavoring like milk chocolate does. The difference is the emphasis.
